I've had 2 replies to my post with lots of good advice which I'll take on board. I've replied to both of you, PMRpro and SnazzyD, but when I log out my replies seem to disappear.
So, many thanks to both of you, but what am I doing wrong?

They are still there on the forum, I’ve just checked…try logging in again…
Did you click on the blue Reply box and wait for it to upload and appear before leaving the page? You can't move from the page until it is uploaded or it will disappear. HU is very sensitive to that these days.
On my computer it warns me I have tried to leave too soon and now a banner appears telling me a new reply has been added - if I leave before that, the reply disappears.
I’ve lost a couple of replies in the last few days but put it down to me not hitting reply…..
I was quite cross about it to say the least!….
The replies are there if you look in your Profile….
One way to overcome this problem is to write your reply in Notepad and save the file as a text file with a reference that will identify who you sent it to. Save it into a 'Replies' folder on your hard drive. Once you've done that, copy and paste your reply into the browser and send it off. That way you always have a copy of what you sent, and to whom, and if you need to use some or all of the text from your reply when replying to someone else, you can always cannibalise the text from your original text file.
Thanks MiniSpec but don't think I'm tech savvy enough to cope with that! I do remember now to hit the reply button again when I've finished my message.
if you’re on iPad/iPhone (and it’s a longish post/reply) you can write up in notes app and then copy/past on to forum.
If it’s just a short reply- remember to hit reply….😊
Thanks DorsetLady. I'm on a laptop but now remember to hit reply again at the end. Seems so obvious now!
