Keep a note of what you eat - and google the calcium content to get an idea of how much you are eating/drinking.

Dairy is the obvious source - but calcium is in lots of other foods too.

Most patients are advised to take supplements - many get a prescription for calcium and vit D supplements when they start pred. Vit D is equally as important as calcium. I took a calcium supplement for some years but it caused bladder problems and now I just eat loads of calcium-containing foods and take 4000 IU vit D. My bone density didn't change significantly in over11 years on pred and I have taken no bisphosphonates in that time.

Seeds and nuts are mentioned in the Healthline link - what are you confused about?

I think I read up on too many diets, paleo, keto, tomatoes no tomatoes. I guess now I should just keep carbs low no sugar or alcohol.

I can't tolerate calcium capsules but I am on Prolia as my osteoporosis reading was -4 in my spine. I didn't realise though I'd be on it for life. No-one told me that. I would have been none the wiser without the support of the forum.

I do take vit. D

Thanks for the food list. I didn't realise that veges had calcium.

You do need plenty of calcium if you are Prolia - it can't work without calcium and you run the risk of low blood calcium levels if you aren't supplementing or eating loads of cheese.

Cut carbs and added sugar and a diary helps relate symptoms to specific foods. Keep it simple.

I don't ban alcohol - pre-pred my best hours were after dinner and a glass of wine!

I do like a wine with guests so I won't cut it out completely

Neither will I! The day the world runs out if wine is too terrible to think about. I use an app MyNetDiary which has a free version and calculates your nutrition.

Does it recommend suitable wines too?

I find wine without, or with only naturally occurring, sulfites tend to be the best.
