Anti inflammatory and pred

Hi,

Quick question, I am down to 3 1/8mg of pred and I have pain in my hand. If I take enantyum 25mg liquid anti inflammatory, it makes it a lot better. The question I need to ask is, because I'm on a low dose of pred now, is it okay that I take the anti inflammatory?

Many thanks

Buenavista

Hi Buenavista,

For my OA I used inflammatory gel, sparingly, when on similar dose and lower - no problem according to GP and pharmacist. However, as you are taking a liquid there may be slightly more chance of stomach problems. If you're only taking it temporarily, it should be okay, but might be best to check with pharmacy.

It says take special care when on pred but does not say don't take it. I imagine it will be like most NSAIDs, the occasional dose should be OK but longterm use is probably not recommended. But everyone is different - one friend had a gastric bleed after 3 doses of ibuprofen (as suggested by her GP for PMR).

Hi,

Thanks for both your replies.

I only need them for about 7 days, so hopefully it will be enough to clear it up. So I'll take your advice and see how I go.

Best regards

Hi Buenavista

Just a quickie - am curious as to how you get 1/8mg of Pred?

Hi,

I take 3 1/8mg by taking one tablet of 2 1/2mg one day and l take one and a half of 2 1/2mg the next day. It adds up to 6 1/4, so divided over 2 days, it's 3 1/8mg. I can't get 1mg tablets in Spain. I hope this clears things up. It's the only way I can come down slowly.

Best regards

Buenavista
