This popped up on my newsfeed & I thought these words apply to everybody on this forum. So I decided to post it here as a sign of support to all the members who are fighting the dreadful PMR or GCA or anything else they’re going through right now. Take care everyone ☺️

I have just about learned to do this. Thanks for the reminder. I think I look better than when I was working. I think it’s all the rest and the avoidance of stress. Steroids have plumped out the wrinkles too. Who needs fillers? ( dreaming).

Glad to hear that SJ 😊xx

Wish I did (look better than when at work!) still, what will be, will be, and as you say, I don’t need fillers!! xx

I have to constantly remind myself of this and also resting before an event is not a waste of time.

Thankyou ❤

It's good to be reminded of that....particularly as it's hard not to almost believe yourself that you're "wasting time" sometimes.

We're all somewhat conditioned to feel we should be constantly 'busy' and active but PMR/GCA sufferers can't do that, so being reminded from time to time that it's ok (and necessary!) to rest is definitely a good thing.

It is necessary, of course, but I still feel guilty and feel I have not done enough.

My body is telling me this but my brain is reminding me about my ever lengthening "to do" list of household chores! I need an "off" switch. Newly diagnosed with PMR in the last month, when the steroids started to work I made the mistake of overdoing things. I'm looking at a pile of ironing and feeling guilty because I just want to sit and rest. I've tried setting myself 15 minutes on a task then 15 minutes resting. I care for 84 year old husband with cognitive impairment, I am 76.

Can you iron sitting down? And how much of it REALLY needs ironing? I do so little I can indulge my liking for ironed bedding and tea towels - my reason: they are all pure cotton!

I do try to sit down, my iron is fairly light weight and I use steam. I iron the absolute minimum these days, only tops and trousers that look creased and I do like the cotton pillowcases to be ironed but that may have to stop. No one else sees them but us!

My ironing board is left up ready for use - and if I need something I do it so never long at it. I actually LIKE ironing, especially with sport on the TV ...

You have quite a lot on your plate, and it is early days with pmr. Perhaps try 1 unit expenditure and 2 units rest. In the long run, you may get more done! Be as kind to yourself as you can be.
