On 6.5 mg pred for PMRg, 2+ weeks since surgery left eye. Still feels as if something in eye. Dr. says eye itself is fine. Any connections with PMR or steroids? Vitamin or herbal suggestions for healing? Thanks for all your warm spirits!

When you say the Doctor has said the eye is fine , is that the GP or have you been back to the Opthamologist or Eye Clinic to have the eye looked at with more specialist equipment?

Thanks Blearyeyed- the ophthalmologist said eyes were fine and I’m seeing much better- that took 2 weeks. The pain feels as though it’s outside the eye, or that something is in it, and burning sensation, all common symptoms that others report post- surgery.

Hi, I had cataract surgery (on both eyes) back in February. Pred had accelerated the growth and my vision was severely impacted. I had weird "nerve" pain, on and off, for about 1-2 months after surgery... but I still have a feeling like there is a goopy, film covering on my eyeball! I can see perfectly now ... it just feels like a film coating. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh, sorry for that Idyllic- sounds hard to deal with. Maybe that sensation also takes months to recover from. May it be so.

Pain for up to 6 weeks is not unusual - about 7% of patients still have pain at that time. And dry eyes will add to the discomfort.

Hi I had a few problems after my cataract surgery on both eyes. When I saw my optometrist she pointed out that I had mild blepharitis and also my eyes were still very dry. I therefore bought some eyelid wipes and upped the drops for dry eyes. This for me has helped considerably. The left eye also was painful during surgery and also for a little time afterwards whereas I had no problems at all with the second op and the right eye.

I use eye drops from optician - may be try these if your cataract drops are finished - optician says PMR causes dry eyes
