Hello lovely people, I have just noticed that I forgot to take my 7mg dose of Pred. this morning - no wonder I have been feeling tired etc! I had a hip replacement last Wednesday and coping alone at home since yesterday things are not quite as organised as normal - hahaha! I think probably leave it to tomorrow? Sleeping hasn't been much fun since the op - I am not good on my back really.
Missed dose this morning: Hello lovely people, I... - PMRGCAuk
Missed dose this morning
If it were me I'd take it now - especially being so early days post-op.
Otherwise, how are you doing?
Thank you again everyone for coming to my rescue! Otherwise I am doing pretty well, I was lucky enough to get a "super path minimally invasive hip replacement" and consider myself fortunate although I don't know much about the "normal" op. I was home Friday and on Monday I went to the vet with my daughter (about 15 miles) to help her find things we needed in the shops. Navigator! At the very start the pain was really hard not helped by me being allergic to NSAIDS and according to the surgeon the Prednisolone might not have helped. I can get around although today seemed worse than yesterday and now I know why! This is a wonderful forum and again I am grateful for your input.
Hi Pippa - No don’t leave it - take it now as you’ll only feel worse as the day goes on. Just take as normal tomorrow.
Feel Better Soon 💐
I might be inclined to take a small dose -say 3 or 4mg - otherwise you might feel really rough tomorrow.
With you on the sleeping on back scenario …found it very difficult after my ops ..so don’t add in extra problems with no Pred.
Thanks DorsetLady - I have done that. The back sleeping isn't very nice is it although I am doing a bit better propped up with pillows. It's the upheaval of the bathroom visits that are annoying too every 2 hours seems to be my need atm.
There are some nice bed wedges on Amazon
Thanks, it's all quite a learning curve! Not my first operation by any stretch but first joint thing.
I hope you've taken your pred by now. We always should as soon as we remember in cases like this. Yestereday I missed a middle of the night dose, because I unknowingly dropped it. Had an uneasy feeling there had been no pill in my mouth, or swallowed, but as I couldn't find it thought I must be mistaken. In the morning, there it was on the floor So I ate breakfast and took a dose (not the floor tablet, that got thrown away!). I had woken up feeling pretty rough, so in a way it was a relief the symptoms weren't PMR rearing its ugly head again, just me being a dolt. Back to normal today.
As the others suggest take your pred now and then carry on as normal. Hope you are recovering OK with your hip replacement. It is fantastic surgery.
Thanks piglette it is indeed a great operation - I am doing well although I have forgotten my pred a couple of times since the last effort but not for so long! Funny how the routine is just that little bit different and chaos ensues
Yes indeed it would - I am almost back in the familiar routine - perhaps I need electronic reminders - I have been a little late with that blood clot prevention jab too.
I have Alexa primed to check in at 9am ‘Have You Taken Your Steroids’ & have a Daily Tablet Box just for my Pred so l can easily check…..
Good thinking - in my defense I am still sleeping quite late. Let the dogs out early - take a painkiller and go back to bed - next thing it seems to be gone 9! I haven't forgotten my Thyroid meds though!
No unfortunately the Thyroid meds need to be taken an hour before anything else - so that's a before I get out of bed job.
You can take thyroid meds before bed - it has been found to work better than the standard morning regimen,
Yes it is a bit of a challenge - I take Magnesium at night - and normally my Thyroid S anywhere between 5 and 7 am (last trip to the loo). Getting the hospital to work it in was a challenge too. At 4 am I asked for the Thyroid S and she tried to give me pain killers AND a laxative at the same time! :)The good news is I remembered the Pred at breakfast this morning and the anti-blood clot injection!
I have only had a problem since the hip operation messed with my routine, which I don't think is all that surprising, there was a lot of stress involved and worrying whether I would cope at home alone afterwards. Time I learnt not to worry!
