Possible missed dose

I am not sure whether I took my 30 mg of prednisone this morning. I got distracted and just don’t know. Should I take another dose? It’s three hours later now.

I would have thought you would feel if you had missed you dose. I would be in pain and have difficulty getting up and walking and I'm only on 5mg.

I have more pain in my shoulder area than in recent days and can feel my heart beating more than I usually do (just slightly fast, but more that I can feel it).

You have two choices really -

take full dose hoping it’s not doubling up - otherwise you’ll be floating off the ceiling!

Take 15mg, and see how the day goes, if you feel okay all day then you’ll know you took the 30mg; if by later in the day you feel rough you can take another 15mg.

But, get yourself a dosette box, sort your weekly tablets during a quiet time - then you know what you taken every day!

Taking 15mg now sounds like a good idea. I do have a pill box - I was filling it and intended to leave an extra dose out for today but not sure I did because I got distracted.

Well, take a lesson from this.

Fill thre pill box and then take the pills.

Safer as you'll know if you've taken them or not.

I've got an alarm to take my pred, She's called Babs!

When I get up to go to bed, she always asks if I've taken my tablets.

I really get what you are saying, I can barely keep thoughts in my head sometimes with this fog. I organise my tablets then I doubt myself cos I can’t remember doing it. I’ve tried the plastic dispensers, Ticking the task off a list. It’s really worrying. It feels like a learning difficulty at times. Empathise.

I think DL’s suggestion is the way forward, sometimes if you do forget it can be some hours before you realise.

I fill mine at 11am (alarm on phone) so it’s away from when l take them.

I have The T-Shirt for Forgetting! Never Again! Until the next time 😉

How are you? I would be hurting now on a dose of 30 mgs and not taking it. It’s a huge double up. No process of deduction you can do? Count your tablets? Get a pill dispenser, this is so easy to do, we’ve all done it and double dosed.

I took 15 and felt much better. A few hours later I was hurting again so I just took 15 more. Thank you all for your help!

About 2 weeks ago I woke up sore and stiff. Knew something was wrong, thought it might be a flare. Waited till 11am as the pain was building up, and took 5mg (my daily split dose total is 9mg...6 at 2am and 3 at 2:30pm). Got some relief but instinctly felt something was off.

By the time I went upstairs later in the afternoon to gather laundry, I happened to look in the little shot glass on my nightstand that holds my 2am dose, and sure enough all 6mgs were there. Apparently I woke up at 2am, ate half a banana, drank water, but DIDN’T take my tablets! First time that ever happened, but probably due to having to take my dose in the dark in the middle of the night, groggy and all.

All this to say it happens. The up side is that I know my body and symptoms, and in the future I’ll try and remember to check my shot glass upon rising.

Hope you sort it all out!

Thanks. I now know what it feels like to miss my dose. It reminds me of when I ran my 1973 VW bug out of gas so I would know how low I could go and not run out!

I use simple method of ...prepping the pills to take ... write date, time and dose down and then take the pills...

I doubt from my own experience that doubling up for one day will do any harm. My doctor has drastically upped my dose a few times for up to three days and then back to regular dose. Everyone different, though

My body usually tells me when I've made a mistake with my dosage. "Why am I so sore?" Then I have a wee think and then OH! Silly me.
