Following on from my post a few weeks ago, I had the results of my heart scan last week, which coincided with needing to put in a prescription for my Pred. On Friday I emailed the surgery with my prescription needs and a question re my scan results. Tuesday afternoon, text asking me to ring and make an appointment re results and prescription. Duly rang and a telephone appointment for this morning at 10:00ish. Very happy with scan results, exactly the same as two years ago, next one in two years time. All fine with the Pred prescription, very happy for me to be self managing and that I was one of the very few they trusted to do that. She said they love the diary and future needs spreadsheet as it keeps them fully informed. No pressure on reducing Pred said she was very happy where I was. She offered to put the Pred on repeat prescription, but as they give me around 4 months supply and what I would need changes I said I was happy just to email when I needed it. She was just wanting to check I was generally OK and did I have any worries about anything, had a general chat about stuff, she said she'll organise another DEXA scan, two years from my last one and then discuss options if needed. Finished with, if in doubt about anything, don't hesitate to ring. Happy bunny😀😀

I think, most if not all the docs in our practice are youngish. Impressed with them all.

I've mentioned before that the surgery has been good, not only with, me and OH but right through the Pandemic they have worked as normally as possible.

Hi there. So pleased to hear all that.....and so envious of your 'clued-up' GP. You're really lucky to have such an interactive relationship with her....my GP has never contacted me just to see how I was doing and never taken much interest in me, my condition or my self-management of my meds! In fact he's never questioned the meds I re-order each month on my 'repeats'. He wouldn't have a clue if I was being irresponsible with the pred! Not good enough really 😕

Very pleased for you though Peter. That's the news we want to hear.

It works both ways, as you, no doubt, are a delightful patient in their eyes!

That's probably true, as I don't take up much of their time, neither do I have many or expensive drugs.

Good news Bcol. You have worked at this and it is paying off. I'm trying for that with mine and getting there. Just sorted pred. and they asked what I wanted. My Gp. has a reputation for running well over time on consultations because she always takes the time to listen. Therefore I don't mind waiting as I appreciate the time she gives. instructed rec. to organise a ftf when she was back next Tuesday and they are chasing rheumy for me and themselves wanting his well overdue report. They know I've flared and upped the dose so concerned.

Not what you're looking for?
