Good morning All,

I'm scheduled for my Flu Jab this morning. Does it matter which one I receive? The live one or deactivated one.

Thank you.

You need the non-live vaccine. I believe this year's is only that but ask to make sure.

Thank you 123-go. I've just returned from having my jab and as you say it was non live and no eggs or chicken in it either as I'm a vegan so that was lucky! Regards, Tina.

Where I live, Nova Scotia, live flu vaccine is given only to children, and grandparents and any other vulnerable people in their circle are advised to avoid spending time with the children for some specified time after they receive it (not sure how long, a few days?).

In the UK they say to stay away/ be extra cautious for seven days - see FAQs Vaccinations x

Hello Heron NS, yes, the pharmacist told me the information re the live vaccine for children this morning so clearly that's the same for the UK. Thank you.

You will not be offered a live vaccine -that is the nasal one used for children. It is almost never used for adults.
