I had a battle last year to get the pneumonia vaccination, even though my consultant recommended it, and I have yearly CT scans of my lungs due to a nodule and prone to pneumonia and chest infections since birth.
After 30 minutes waiting on the phone today to speak to the surgery, they say that pneumonia is usually only once every 5 years.
My question is, do I battle for it, or is that fine that I had it last year?
Appreciate you might not know the answer, but I have an appt tomorrow so thought I might ask here first so I am armed, if I do indeed need a battle.
Can't imagine what will happen re Shingles AND the Third vaccination, not feeling too hopeful, but baby steps.
Thanks so much in advance.

Hi Sophiestree. I'm certainly no authority on this, but I had a pneumonia vaccination last year too, and I was also told it's given every five years. I don't know if there are different pneumonia vaccines but if there are then it maybe some are annual.
I'm sure others will be able to advise further though.
“People aged 65 and over only need a single pneumococcal vaccination. This vaccine is not given annually like the flu jab.
If you have a long-term health condition you may only need a single, one-off pneumococcal vaccination, or a vaccination every 5 years, depending on your underlying health problem.”
From The Link Above - it would depend on your underlying condition - for Me l was told it was a One Off
Yes, I have just put a note in my phone for 5 years time!!! haha, that's if the calendar is working by then. But good to know re the 5 years, I wasn't aware of that. Maybe I won't need it then, it's just due to my medical history and the monitoring of my lung. Now wondering if I need to ask for the Shingrix one. It's so exhausting battling with them at the best of times. They definitely didn't get the 3rd vaccination thing at all. Urgh.
