Hello. I’ve had PMR for almost 3 years now. I’ve had a few flare ups which has delayed my reducing to 0 including a bad UTI, which led me being admitted to hospital on Christmas Day with the start of sepsis. I’m currently going through the protocol for reducing from 2 to 1MG. I’ve put up with aches and pains and occasionally take paracetamol. I’m aware that adrenals can take weeks or a few months to kick into action. I do feel sore quite often but it’s nothing like when I first had PMR and I can cope with it by taking 2 paracetamol tablets once a day. That’s not every day either. Occasionally I nap in the afternoon, but I am nearing 70, and I don’t have the deathly fatigue like before and my appetite and mental health is good too. My main concern now is, as I seem to be more or less on a roll, I’m concerned about having the latest Covid vaccination. I wonder if anyone has experience of this vaccination for the latest strain which is starting to impact on hospital intake. I have had Covid vaccinations throughout lockdown and just after lockdown but not since things really started to get back to ‘normal’. Also, I’ve never had Covid. I’m just uneasy about having another vaccination that might possibly set me back. Sort of between a rock and a hard place.

latest covid vaccination
Good morning, I've had all the jabs for Covid and Flu throughout my four plus years with PMR and Pred and never had a problem, but it is a very personal decision. I've had Covid and suspect it would have been far worse if I hadn't had the jabs.
Hi
l had my Covid jab last Monday no problem was offered flu one at same time but declined will have at end on month
Only had a sore arm headache and was really tired.
Due to have second Shingles Jab today
I had my Covid jab last Wednesday with a bit of aches, including headache the day after plus my insect bites that had gone did a quick return but all okay pretty quickly. I had my flu jab on Saturday with no worries
Why should this vaccine affect you if previous ones haven't... and even if it does, it's better than getting Covid surely..
Adrenals can take a lot longer than a few weeks or months to kick back into action , so would suggest you ease up on tapering... and we almost always suggest 0.5mg a time [provided you can cut your 1mg tablets] and a very slow taper as you get lower.
As you on the way from 2-1mg once you get there, maybe stay there for a few months to give the adrenals a chance to do their thing, before you embark on next drop - and not to zero in one drop please.
Why wouldn't you have the jab if you haven't had a problem before? The more you can do to protect against Covid the better because even mild infections can leave long lasting effects.
I was very sick with Covid months ago. First time. Still wear masks everywhere, but had one medical procedure for which I couldn’t wear a mask. Just once. It’s all it takes. I still suffer breathlessness and deathly fatigue. I paid £80 to have the spring vax as I wasn’t in the category for vax that time. Thank goodness I did! What if you don’t have the jab, then end up in hospital? Well, What it that could have been avoided by having the jab? Just my personal thoughts & input.
