DEXA Scan Results

I have just received my DEXA Scan results from last Thursday's scan (via text & a download file from my GP). Here is what it said:

Total spinal T-score 2.1, mean neck of femur T-score -0.6, mean total

hip T-score -0.4. This gentleman has normal bone density. He is on

steroids for PMR but has no other risk factors for osteoporosis. He

is below the threshold for treatment and no specific intervention is

required. Ensure adequate calcium and vitamin D intake.

It seems to be a good report, so should I now badger my GP to take me off the Alendronic Acid? He has previously said I can drop it once I get to 4mg/day of Pred. I'm taking on of these daily: Colecalciferol 800unit Vitamin D3/ Calcium Carbonate 2.5g chewable tablets, plus Vitamin K2 MK-7 100mcg daily.

Yes - although not AA not specifically mentioned, it does say no further treatment required apart from Calcium/VitD.

All sounds positive to me and good results for you. The rheumatologist told me to stop AA when i get to 7mgs which is soon as i am on 8 now. I dont think they have agreed with me from day one so will be glad to stop them. I havent had the dexa scan. Good luck.

In my case the Alendronic Acid would be in the ‘return to sender’ bag!

I would stop it if those were my results. I stopped Alendronic Acid a couple of months ago. I am on 3mg of prednisolone daily.
