Dexa scan improvement while on pred after COMB micronutrient protocol

After being diagnosed with osteoporosis 2 years ago I had tried Alendronate and couldn't tolerate it; Tried Forteo for a couple of months but ended up in ER with shortness of breath. With my rheumatologist and internist approval I followed the Micronutrient protocol for 1 1/2 years - while taking prednisone. I only took half the recommended dose of strontium citrate and stopped the strontium citrate 6 months ago because of lack of research but I might resume. Never had any troubles with it. I add I was unable to do heavy exercising - too weak. I did treadmill and one leg standing, table pushups and stationary bike, house steps- that's all.

Results 2018: L femoral neck: T score-2.8 Z score -0.8

R femoral neck: -2.3 Z -0.3 Forearm: T -1.7 Z score 0.7

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Results 2020 : L femoral neck: T score -2.2 Z score -0.1

R femoral neck: T score: -2.2 Z score: 0.1 Forearm: T score: -2.0 Z score: 0.6

That’s great news! Thanks for sharing this. Would like to find out more about the protocol you followed if anyone can advise? Is strontium citrate available on prescription in the UK? I looked it up and found that what you can buy from health stores is not as efficacious as strontium ranelate which used to be prescribed. My last DEXA showed that I was osteopenic, not far off osteoporosis and I have been unable to tolerate oral biphosphonates so would be grateful for any information

Have since found references to this protocol. It would seem to include fish oil and strontium citrate as well as the supplements most of us are already familiar with and some weight bearing exercise.

That is pretty impressive considering they keep saying you can't reverse OP with diet and exercise. Yes you can!

Wouldn't it be wonderful if there were a screening process for women in their 50s to identify if they are at risk and then provide the info they need? It is only the same concept as the AAA (abdominal aortic aneurysm) screening for men. But I suppose you can't avert the AAA with a pill - and the Ps that B seem to like pills for ills as they are easy ...

this is great news. I have the strontium but have never taken it but will start NOW!!!! I improved my dexa score a couple years ago with Tap classes (heel drops work just as well) and hope I have continued to improve. now 3.5 years on prednisone.
