We are pleased to announce that this weekend, Saturday and Sunday are off piste days. Feel free to post photos and chat about anything other than pmr, gca or covid. Please remember to stay polite and respect others views.
We will be returning to business as normal on Monday and any post not strictly about pmr and/or gca will risk being deleted.
Hope you all enjoy.

It a totally different type of forum and there should be no medical.advice at all on it according to their guidelines so it would definitely be a shock.
They would post as normal and we will see it - even if you don't. But in dire need? The emergency medical services don't go on holiday either and they are still available for "normal" medical needs - so they keep telling us at least.
The only break we are likely to get is a nervous breakdown type!! Dont worry we are not going off and will all be around over the weekend if anyone needs to ask serious questions. There isnt a ban on pmr and gca just a chance to talk of other things and post those photos of the grandchildren we cant be withxx
Hoping I won't have to read any novellas, but get to look at photos and messages you want to put with them. I know you won't use and abuse the privilege and as pmrpro and ybb say we will be around, as will others no doubt, to answer PMR and GCA questions . 😉🌻
You can of course discuss pmr and gca all you want but the weekend is not limited to just those two topics. As for covid we are looking at anything posted individually now things have calmed down and if there is sonething that hasnt already been mentioned and answered in the covid thread usually numerous times and as long as it relevant to pmr and/or gca then it will be allowed but if things start building up again we will stop replies. This is a pmr/gca forum and I think in fairness there is enough in the covid thread to satisfy everyone and it shouldnt be on the main forum. People can of course get all the information they want on Google. YBB
Thank you. Just wanted to support Constance13's question, about posting PMR/GCA related items. I (personally) have no interest (nor have I had an interest) in posting about Covid19, but thank you for the clarification.
No probs. We are all on alert for any serious questions and will be answering them as soon as we see them. Obviously we are also hoping our regulars will be doing the same as usual and answering any posts they feel they can. YBB
Oh definitely only verbal. Hes really good but does have his annoying side!! He decided my rotary cutter for my quilting needed looking at yesterday, took it apart and then went to change the fish tank pumps!! Aahhh
I think it would be appreciated by the moderators if we could keep away from controversy this weekend. It would be nice if they could enjoy reading the posts we put up. They are, after all, volunteering their time over a holiday weekend, and have offered to facilitate the community in sharing personal notes, stories and photos.
I encourage the moderators to immediately shut down any outliers or provocateurs for the period. If you can't erase the objectionable behavior, shut down the replies without explanation. People posting that kind of comment are doing it with full knowledge of what they are doing. And don't take anything they say personally. They are only looking to get a reaction by bullying you. Shut them up and then ignore them. I encourage other community members to refrain from being enticed into an argument with others, who are only seeking attention for themselves.
Starve the trolls.
I look forward to seeing what people will contribute...especially their creative endeavors to make the holiday special under the current constraints of resources and social distancing, and of course, their lovely gardens.
PS: Thanks to the mods, admins and HU for this forum, for all you've done to support this community, especially during these very difficult times.
I don't mean to imply that members should not come here to seek solace from their fears, express sadness at missing loved ones or needing relief from loneliness. We're friends, and we're her to support one another, especially in these difficult times.
I will also be looking forward to the forum coming together positively at this time and using it as fresh beginning .
I was shocked over the last few weeks at the level of acrimonious, delibarately provocative, and negative replies that became pervasive across our posts.
I was so upset by it that it did affect my Health and took away my usual feelings of Hope and Strength , to the extent that I have not felt comfortable reading posts or coming to the forum over the last week .
I know that people may say , if it bothers you don't read it , but that isn't always possible. Especially when these replies were happening in the midst of threads which contained questions on which I may have been able offer advice or support to someone who was in genuine need.
I would have thought that a Global Pandemic would have been something that made everyone decide to put personal agendas and disagreements aside to concentrate on working together to help everybody feel stronger and more capable of dealing with this difficult crisis.
I was disappointed to see that this wasn't always the case , and I was affected by this , not just on my own behalf , but because I knew how negatively it would be affecting many vulnerable members who rely on the forum for their wellbeing.
So I will be looking in over the weekend in the hope of seeing that the old Community Spirit and Caring that this forum is known for has returned , and I , and many others , can feel confident in taking part in what is usually a fantastic and supportive group of friends once again.
I haven’t been so active on the Forum these past few weeks as there were so many questions that people could have found answers too by reading the info on Covid-19...from the WHO etc etc. I think all the moderators did a brilliant job! I’m going to take photos of the garden jobs I’ve been doing & the flowers etc & post them to cheer people up! Realise this is a reply to Blearyeyed but want to thank everybody! Me? I c*ocked up my tapering these last ten days! I panicked when I over-read it all & wanted to try to get to 10mg quickly (from 16 in December). Nasty flare up, despite all the good advice I’ve ever read here...I couldn’t get a supermarket slot & thought I’d have to go out & shop!) doctor rang me & gave me 15 minutes of his time & was lovely. Flare going, still have balance issues, slight stiff neck & shoulder pain, plus dreadful dripping sweats (about twice a day), plus room spinning (but no alcohol). Managed to get to 11g & holding...for a few weeks! Take care, all, will try to be a better patient! S x x
You should never have felt unable to be on here any more than bee has and it makes me angry that that's been the case. We did try very hard to make sure people could be in here without the drama of covid being the main focus and unfortunately some people just could not accept this forum isnt for one person nor is it a covid forum. These are the same sort of people who think the rules on isolation do not apply to them and are still meeting up in groups.
Hopefully things have settled now and this weekend we can see pics of family and gardens and chat about things other than the problems in the world.
We are here all weekend watching for pmr and gca queries and normal moderating will be happening even with the off piste posts.
We hope everyone enjoys the chance to relax and enjoy the weekend albeit a different one to what a lot of people were looking forward to. YBB
Oh no don’t feel that like please. I had already read so much about Covid before it landed in our country...used to work fir a microbiological filtration Company, so when it arrived I had no questions left! It was natural that people had loads of questions and they needed to take priority. I was happy with that. Besides it made me get a doctors appointment which is what I needed, really. My doctor is so great and spent fifteen minutes talking to me. I’m improving but not yet back to where I was. If people who are allowed out would go to the shops then shielded people could get deliveries! It’s the repetition I don’t get. Same questions over and over rather than people checking on the Govt web site or WHO. Same on the TV. I have a regular delivery with Sainsburys again now which is great and ASDA offering me a back up of a repeated weekly slot, same time each week. I think they’re all doing an incredibly good job in totally unchartered waters! Thanks for caring, though, it’s a great forum! Hugs and be safe, S xx
Yes I have just been offered asda reg slot which is great. Well OH has actually not me. Hes winding me up by saying it's all.down to him we have these slots!! Yeh like who does the normal.shopping and who has the various supermarket accounts, oh and who registered him on the govt site!!
No the repeat questions was what got to us the most. Hopefully the weekend should be fun.x YBB
Noooo. Oh dear, it's been a very weird few weeks and I am sorry you ended up flaring. Hopefully you will be able to get priority slots from now on. It's not a positive I know, but you know that PMR still active and ready to fight you. It makes me worry less about pred dose when it flares as I know it's doing a good job. Take care and keep staying safe. 🌻😘
I think this HealthUnlocked website has lost its credibility its turned into a twitter, Instagram with things unrelated to the main issue it was set up for. Who wants to see pictures of grankids, gardens etc. Everyone wants to self promote themselves in every way nowadays. Go on You tube if you want to do that.
I am now unsubscribing from this forum. If I need any health advise regarding my PMR/GCA I
will go to my very good and professional GP and Rheumatologist not some inexperienced twitter with their views.
We do it every so often to let people share and with the current situation it seemed the right time to do it this weekend. Oh well everyone else seems happy enough!!YBB
That's why there are soooo many happy people following HU - leave all the other stuff for the miseries. There is so much medical knowledge to read - sometimes it's just "fun" to turn off our illnesses and have a laugh. And there is always someone to listen/give advice to us at any time.
I think it's likely that a lot of people are having trouble managing their feelings and having difficulty finding a place to off load them. Some people can only manage that by picking a fight.
There are ways to express feelings without alienating the people whose attention we're trying to court, and I think we'll recognize them when they come along.
Don't feed the trolls, but don't neglect to hear those who need to be heard by an understanding heart.
