Dont forget that there are now 2 days of off piste posts and photos allowed. The ideal time to show off your family, grandchildren gardens etc and to send your wishes for the new year. Any posts after the cut off point not relating to pmr/gca will have replies stopped

If you have a serious question please do it in a separate post.

Have fun. YBB

I usually fall asleep about 4am but its not happening this morning. The joys of pred induced insomnia!!

Well this has never quite happened to me. I just never dropped off, at all. I usually have broken nights but this is quite alarming. I am sorry for you that you are awake, but a bit reassured by it. Do you sleep on and off all day? I’ll be seeing things. You still work in the Courts don’t you? How can you manage? It must be my Adrenal, function.

Yes i still work but only take about one case a month now. As some take days and others weeks it can be hard to balance stuff. No i dont sleep during the day, i just cant seem to nap.

Its very strange when a night doesnt include any sleep at all. I used to worry but decided not to let it bother me and just give in and read or sew. I wouldnt worry if its just the odd night, its prob just your body getting back to a rhythm.

You and SJ are amazing!💥 I can't imagine what your lives are like. I sleep 9/10 hours a night and have at least one half hour nap during the day. This has only happened since taking pred. I'll NEVER understand this mad illness!!

I havnt slept more than 4 hours since starting pred except.for days when my body says its had enough and i crash out for about 7 hours These happen about every 5/6 weeks!! My poor gp has tried everything.

Thank you, This is a first for me, unless you count the odd night in my ill- spent youth - then straight to work. I was tired all day. I couldn’t believe it when I looked at the clock.

It may be a horrible thing , but if it is a first for you , it may be an uncomfortable but hopefully turn of events . Your Adrenal Function may have finally started to kick up a gear after all this time waiting but just hasn't got its balance back yet to work with your body clock. You could be turning a corner in the New Year , even if you have a few weeks of sleepless nights at first to pay for it. Wouldn't that be amazing !😘

I agree its just likely the body is getting back jnto a rhythm and is just throwing a curved ball at her now and again. Just a reminder as to whos in charge!!

I haven't actually slept more than five hours in a row since I was born !!

Now it turns out that this is part of the Ehlers Danlos Syndrome that I have had all my life but has only just been diagnosed , although I guess it helped me keep up during my misspent youth!😋😂😂😂

Since starting steroids and trying other drugs that should allegedly help me to sleep I'm lucky if I get two or three hours at a time a couple of times a day even when I'm tired . In fact Extreme tiredness stops me dropping off at all!😥

It's a joy when I do have five hours sleep in a row for Me , like the old days , although I do go to bed and rest no matter what , it can do as much good as sleep in the long run as long as you just enjoy relaxing your body and mind and don't stress about not dropping off.

Oddly , I've begun to dread getting back beyond five hours , if I sleep longer I know it's a warning of an infection or a Flare of Fatigue and Pain to come , so rather than turning over and enjoying it , I have to stop and think , if it happens more than once I know I have to get up or the real lows of Deathly Fatigue will be on its heels.

You are just mad though, thats your main problem. I have never been able to sleep for huge amounts of time at night but at least got 7 hours!! I have given up worrying about not sleeping now because it only stresses me and i just do stuff like sewing.

In the old days I loved it , the house was quiet I could be really productive with all the Energy zooming around inside me. Now , the body can't use the waking hours the way it used to so it felt at first like a lost opportunity , now I'm just happy if I get some sleep , some comfort , and finally get up without the Fatigue or added Pain.

My Boyfriend Pillow has really helped with that though so I don't miss sleep like I used to.
