COVID POSTS

Yellowbluebell profile image
16 Replies

As i have already stated numerous times there should be NO COVID POSTS on the main forum. Any posts mentioning covid risk having replies stopped or being deleted.

We can not manage the covid queries amongst the pmr and gca posts and after discussions with admin it was decided to set up a daily post allowing everyone to talk about covid away from what should be a pmr and gca forum.

If people have issues with this then they need to speak to candy or fran from admin. YBB

If you need volunteers to help with the strain that you clearly feel, there would be plenty of volunteers.

Its not volunteers we need its people accepting that admin made a decision that all covid related posts go on the covid thread. We manage very well with all the moderation thanks. If members felt able to follow the instructions of admin i wouldnt need to constantly repeat myself.YBB

It isn't strain really - it is a small number who are unable to accept guidelines or decisions that were drawn up by PMRGCAuk and not directly by us but the blame is directed at us.

Its the fact they think they are special and exempt from any guidelines.

I've only just realised that the Virus shouldn't be mentioned. I will now comply. After all we all have enough to talk about with our own diseases.

Sorry if I missed the post.

And the majority of your posts were directly related to trying to get GCA diagnosis rather than the covid. That's the fine line but in general up to now yours have been on the GCA line as info re drs visits and treatment/tapering.

I think all long term members volunteer in their own way on the general forum with posts and replies to other members , including you SJ , with your friendly , positive words of support whenever you see someone in need.

We are also doing whatever job we can as normal members to reply helpfully on the Covid Daily Posts too . We don't have badges but most of Us help the Moderators by Self Moderating and using the site within the rules to make it easier for Us all to get the most benefit from the forum that we can.

We do it without being official volunteers because we want to give back to a Forum that has helped us so much.

Adding more volunteers with official status now would probably add to the work of the current Administration as new Message boards need to be arranged for them to receive training before they are approved , so just doing what most of us do kindly and well is probably the best way we can ,' do our bit'.

I think if everybody thought about why things are requested from Us and thought a little about what they posted and where they needed to post it before using the forum each day that would make it easier for everybody doing the work behind the scenes , especially during this busy , anxious time.

And it would keep helping our membership get the benefit of lots of people's experiences but in a positive , calm and less Stressful way. Very important right now .

I know you are committed to that idea too , and we appreciate your Caring , Calming words of support , it does make a difference each day. Take care , sweetie , Keep Safe xxx

The amount of advice and support our forum members give to others is amazing and without you all the forum wouldnt exist.

When we request things to be done a certain way its usually to keep the forum a safe and secure place for everyone. This was the case over the covid topic. Virtually all of our members, new and old have respected our request and we really appreciate your cooperation. YBB

I feel worried that you feel under siege and yet we are all bears doing the best we can. There is bound to be the odd howl of anxiety. I haven’t picked up much real malice at all. Hugs all round!

We are not under seige. Certain individuals need to realise there are rules and they apply to them whether they like it or not. If they want to chat they either pm each other or go to mewe. YBB
