Humming can be a form of tinnitus. Have you done anything differently lately? Any added stress...? Or exposure to a viral cold? It could also, in some cases; be impacted ear wax or an inner ear infection.
In any case, I would mention it to the doctor. Especially if it does not resolve. Just to be on the safe side....and to rule out any underlying cause connected to PMR or GCA.
Hope you get better soon yulik. I'm sure you will keep us informed or your progress!
It could be a number of reasons, the simplest of which is ear wax or a bit of fluid behind the ear drum. I’d get someone to have a quick look down there before worrying or blaming Pred.
After GCA I have a mildly muffled ear and a bit of tinnitus on the GCA side. I haven't done anything about it because it was the least of my problems. I think I have adjusted to it and just have to make sure I put the phone to the other side.
Thanks Jinasc, very much for the link. Truth be known I am very worried that I may be starting with GCA. I have had an occasional headache on both sides of my head, but it comes and goes.
Last week I was at my rheumatologist ( before I had humming in my ear). She was very pleased with my progress and wants me to do the test for my adrenal glands...I’m now on 5mg. 👏
Did others start with their GCA having these symptoms?
