Firstly thanks to this forum for the advice about alendronic acid and dexa scans.
In brief, I was diagnosed with PMR in April started pred in May. My GP wanted me to go on AA because I'd broken a bone a few years back and there was the assumption I was low bone density. (I mentioned it was a spectacular fall, and that all bones can break) and so she reluctantly sent the request for a dexa scan, as I said I didn't want to take AA. I have just (dexa done 12th June) got my scan results and I am normal for hip and femoral neck and just over the border and slightly osteopoenic in spine. So AA not advised, but calcium and Vit D and impact exercise.
I'm so glad I had it done so I have a baseline to compare to in the future.
I hope I can follow others here who have successfully increased bone density.
Thanks again...I wouldn't have had this advice if it weren't for this forum.
