Blue badge - I'm to be assessed by an independent physiotherapist.

Well here I am in the hot sun of Minorca. I used Airport Assist to get me here and the warmth of the sun is doing wonders for my well being.

Made the mistake of checking emails last night. The 'blue badge team' have received my on line application and have referred me to an independent physiotherapist

so he can assess how far I can walk!

The assessment is in a local library two towns away. I provided masses of medical evidence of PMR, two displaced discs and osteo-arthritis of the spine.

The assessment has been booked for the day of my flight home so will have to be re-cheduled (no doubt losing me more points).

HELP!!

If the physio says "Come with me" walk at your pace - don't try to keep up!! (Having assess numerous applicants for Orange (pre-Blue) badge in my working days.

Don’t worry about it , they just want to see how far you can walk , I told them I couldn’t walk without a shopping trolley . Jut tell them how you are on your worst day .. and shuffle around . Mine is a god send to me and gave me my independence back . I also get attendance allowance of 85 pounds a week, as they say , every little helps . Good luck ,

Most councils have different assessment methods normally based on how far you can walk .

Just e mail them back and ask if you are able to change appointment thier should be no problem .

Good Luck

Don't worry about it. I was assessed the first time I had my badge. They are very knowledgeable physios. It wasn't at all like PIP or ESA assessments. They even gave me good advice about using Nordic walking poles. When my badge expired I only had to send a copy of my PIP award and it was renewed.

As others have said take your walking aid and tell them how you are on your worst day.

Enjoy your holiday, it looks lovely xxx
