I am having horrible problems with thin skin

I am on blood thinners which don’t help as if knock legs I end up with bruises that bleed on inside forget the name for them

The last one took 9 months to heal and at moment I have another small one that is taking its time to heal

I also have skin cancer which I have had cut out and found out today that I have another two that they are going to cut out I am now fed up with going in hospital and having to have these things done

It also seems to be getting worse

Is there anyone out there that has these problems and is it steroids that cause it

Thank you

Steroids do increase the risk of some forms of skin cancer I fear. Which is why we are told to use high factor sunscreen when on pred.

Sorry to hear your woes Rusty - my husband feels like you, he had a couple of skin biopsies, was dx'd with prostate ca, had radiotherapy and a year later had gut problems related to that and his lung is also messing about (post cancer treatment 25 years ago) so has been in hospital 4 times in the last year plus countless outpatient appointments. He practically won't mention anything in case they find something else!

OTOH - at least when they are found they can do something about it. And lets face it, we are still getting up in the morning which is preferable to the alternative xxxx

There has been some discussion on one of the forums about protective gear to reduce the effect of bashes on the legs:

dermatuff.com/

someone got them and was very impressed.

This too shall pass

I can understand your husband not wanting to say anything in case of them finding something else I also can understand you saying that if found they can do something about it

If your husband feels like I do you also feel embarrassed mentioning these things for the fear of being classed as a hypochondriac

Thank you for replying June

If they are real - you are not a hypochondriac.

There you are ...

So sorry to hear your frustration.. it seems I have lost my perspective on where things are as I am constantly bumping int high back chairs corner of walls and to tell you the truth I only know why I have one black n blue mark the rest are all a mystery. I think I am being abducted and they have me doing a lot of manual labor.. or at least that is what my arms look like . and I am tired in the morning..

Ok all kidding and trying to be funny aside. What kind of skin cancer do you have? Squamous! Basil cell or melanoma.?.

Thanks for reply

I have had all three of the cancers lol

It’s got to the stage with problems that I don’t like to speak of them for the fear of people or family thinking I am a hypochondriac

You think you have got there and whoops something else crops up

Never mind we have to keep smiling as much as we can as we know there are people worse of out there saying that some days it’s hard to put on a smiley face

Due to accident at the age of 14 I have had 59 years of doing this so am I allowed the occasional day of lol 😂😂😂

Hi Rusty I have just been and had a little spot that I had for two years done I also take inhalers for asthma and my skin is very thin on my arms that bleeds and cuts I put large plasters round the door catches and handles have rubber grips over I cover my arms with elastic pull on bandages to clean and use soft white plasters as the others make a mess of my skin . My legs are getting very dry skin and bruise a lot but only blue ones so I put Q 10 cream on twice a day .I had to use steroid cream on my arms when I was young and as I got older it got worse .I take biotin vits as well .i did try the protective arm things but they went very rough after washing 😀 Keep smiling xx

You feel as if you are on your own with these problems and I know it’s wrong to say this but it is nice to know there are other people out there with same problem

Wrong word nice but I expect you understand what I mean

We all feel better when we know we aren't alone. And never think you a hypochondriac for goodness sake. And yes we are all allowed off days. Hope all goes well 🌻

My skin is like butter. Anything that touches it will leave a bruise, or bleed. I have always had sensitive skin, but after a year on prednisone, it is out of control. I have though, found some protection from Dermatuff socks and sleeves. They have a bulletproof fiber in them.

I have looked at these socks but do you need doctors advice as I have problems with lower legs

Also can they be gotten on prescription thank you
