SKIN ISSUES

Hi all and Happy New Year! I hesitate to ask because of the "one more thing" effect. Has anyone had tiny, pimple-like bumps all over their skin, randomly, including scalp? Some of these are sore and dry. This has been ongoing, but I didn't pay much attention until recently, when they're on the increase. Also, small cyst-like bumps under the skin. Some of which are tender. I'm just wondering if, with much thinner skin and weight loss, it allows one to feel more of what's going on under there? I've been on Pred for 2 years and hoping these disappear as I taper.

Yes Missus 835.Looking at some on the back of my hands. Also scalp. I think it is prednisone.

Thank you. Do some of them get sore cycli? I had 2 on back of my hand. One fell off or got scraped off. The one on forearm is sore. I'm thinking pred related as well. That's just a couple of them.

Not excessively. If you worry them they get sore. Some dry up and fall/scrape off

just today I have had some tiny red raised spots/bumps appear on the back of one hand. They are not Petechiae. There are over 20 of them and they don’t itch. I have had PMR and been on Pred for 10 years and never had them before. Do they sound similar to yours ?

Yes they do. About pimple size. A little scaley. Mine are all over even behind my knees. Some are sore, most are not. I've always had clear skin, but that was another lifetime. The ones in the scalp are most tender. I find a few drops of tea tree oil in my shampoo helps the scalp considerably. I seem to get a new bump daily. I have a phone appt. with Rheumy on Tuesday. Will mention it. I do feel they are Pred related. A lot of new and challenging things since Pred and PMR. Eye roll.

40 years ago or more my father was on prednisone. He had what they called osteo and rheumatoid arthritis. Who knows. He had been given everything from codeine, gold injections and more for 30 years. i remember seeing his flesh when he knocked something and the skin split open. It wasn't possible to stitch because the skin wouldn't hold a stitch. He used micropore stitches to close the gash. The fat tissue had changed to small globules of orange. I think we have to accept that extended regimes of drug use will alter our bodies. Hopefully not as extreme as my fathers as they had much less knowledge back then and his dosage was probably excessive. I have no record of that but now know something of what he must have endured.

I can empathize. Doesn't take much to gash my skin open. Your poor Dad. So many years. Thanks for all the input cycli. I appreciate it so much. xx
