Any advice on pill splitting ?

Hi everyone

I was wondering what advice folk have for splitting 1mg pred tabs ? I've got down to 8mg and the last steps have been 1mg drops but 8-7mg seems too much of a drop.

Are the pill splitters on Amazon at 4.99 any good?

Very Wise doing 0.5mg drop from 8mg

You can get 2.5mg coated or plain (if you are in the U.K.) so you can make your dose up accordingly using 5mg;2.5mg & 1mg - it’s just another option to save splitting tablets.

Thanks MrsNails ! I didn’t know that 3 x 2.5mg easier than splitting 1mg for sure.

No, you take one 5 mg and one 2.5, that's even easier and maybe cheaper? Having 2.5 or cutting 5 mg into 2.5 is really useful until you get below 2.5, which in my experience was quite a long time. Then you practice cutting the teensy 1 mg into .5!

Or spreading a drop over a few days/weeks will also help smooth out the effect:

Hi, ask the hospital pharmacist. My Dad was given one free with his meds. You have to ask though

I bought my pill cutter at the local pharmacy for about £2. I've also seen them in ALDI as a 'special'!
