Try taking magnesium supplement at bedtime, or soaking either your whole body or just your feet in an epsom salts bath. Also low calcium can cause muscle cramps as well, but most of us are on calcium supplements so it's more likely the calcium/magnesium balance is out of line. Don't take a magnesium supplement at the same time as your calcium as calcium will interfere with its absorption, at least until the balance is restored.

I have also found a hot water bottle helps me. I wonder if my circulation is not so good and at night my feet get cold and then they cramp, or my shins ache. With warmth that doesn't happen.

My GP gave me quinine sulphate which worked like magic for me.

GPs are no longer prescribing Quinine Sulphate for long term use is unfortunately another in the long line of meds that thay are doing away with .

Thay say it doesn't work but maybe thay never have cramp

Rose Hi

Tonic water is supposed to help with leg cramps and also bananas.

Feel well.

I had heard they don’t prescribe for long term use, but if you can get hold of it, it really works. I don’t actually take it every night. You do get quinine in tonic water but not enough for me and I don’t like tonic water!

It worked wonders for me too. I came off it after 6 months and haven’t had the problem since.

Some helpful person in here advised a glass of tonic water before bed. I have found this helpful.

Is there a Medical reason, why you are so Dehydrated? I only ask because, as a Kidney Patient, a 'Limited Fluid Regime' DID apply to some people- though no to me. If not I would Increase your Fluid Level, before bed- if this increases your Bed Wetting risk, either set an 'Alarm' and/ or wear a Pad.

Sorry if this is a 'Tender' subject geodiegirl1947, I mean No Harm, just trying to help.....I know, that we ALL, wish you 'Well' or, at least, a Good Nights Sleep!

Fondest Wishes

Dehydration will often lead to cramps. You need some electrolytes replacing.

Increase your hydration! A banana always seem to help me.

Me too. A dollop of potassium and magnesium in a handy takeaway package. A banana a day keeps the cramps at bay 👍🏼

Heat pad works wonders as well as lots of water during the day. Good luck.

Also helps to get a magnesium spray and put it on directly to the affected muscle morning and night - very beneficial!

I had horrible foot cramps for months and tried all kinds of things - increase hydration (I already drank plenty of water), eating bananas, soaking my feet, among others. The thing that finally did the trick was getting a high-quality calcium-magnesium-Vitamin D supplement. I take it at night (so as to not compromise the uptake of my prednisone which I take in the morning). I haven't had a cramp since I began this. Best of luck to you.

Hi

I haven't been diagnosed as yet but I have all the symptoms including foot cramps but I do get pain everywhere cos of my many conditions like I'm sure you all have too. I have have rubbed CBD oil into my feet which seemed to help, you can get from Holland and Barrett. Hope everyone feels better soon

Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Hylands is a supplement company that makes a product to help with leg cramps. I take this herbal supplement and the moment I feel a cramp coming on, I take about 3 tablets that melt in my mouth and the cramps goes away almost immediately and it stays away usually until I get up. It is a very good product.

During the last few weeks started to suffer with cramp starting in the ankles and working half way up the shins, so painful. Try to drink more water as being dehydrated doesn't help. Also try a few gentle stretches before bedtime.

Hope this helps.

Take care xx
