Thrush? Any tips
What is your diagnosis 2roos? Are you on Pred.? I think it can be quite caustic, but I haven’t experienced those severe symptoms. What other meds are you on?
Suggest you see a doctor as soon as possible. Thrush is very treatable.
Hi 2roos
A trip to see your GP for some treatment as there are several things on offer & maybe your Pharmacist first with it being the weekend.
Change your toothbrush once you start treatment & then when it’s finished.
Plain yogurt everyday after your Pred helps enormously.
Best Wishes

I had oral thrush - had over counter gel, prescription meds, cut out all processed sugar, change toothbrush and store n daily Milton solution. Good luck, it's grim, I know! X
Could it be gluten allergy? A friend of mine who was diagnosed with Celiac Disease (after much invesrtigation) had the symptoms you describe.
First confirm that it is in fact oral Candida (Thrush).
If it is, then oral Candida is treated with an antifungal medication such as Clotrimazole Troche, Nystatin, Fluconazole or Amphotericin B.
Good luck.
When first on prednisone, I too developed a condition called oral thrush. The doctor prescribed Nystatin, an oral rinse, used for about 7 days, and it took care of the condition. A new toothbrush is a good idea, and I also ate yogurt daily after the incident.
I have oral thrush and have just completed a course of Nystatin - didn't do a thing. I am on Methotrexate (are you?) so shouldn't take antibiotics - I know Nystain is antifungal not antibiotic - have to go back to GP. Yoghurt, yes - especially after eating things that really hurt my tongue.... will change toothbrush too.
I use Daktarin which you can get from Pharmacy it really helps.xx
Tip from the dental hospital when I had the same problems, change your toothpaste to children’s. Use ‘Little Teeth’ it does the job and doesn’t sting the sore tongue.
Canker sores are among the most common causes of sores in the mouth. They often grow on the inside of the lips, but may also appear on the tongue. ... However, the cause of canker sores is still poorly understood. Most canker sores go away on their own, but some may become very painful and necessitate a trip to the doctor.
