Lighter side Great British Bird watch

Well, I settled myself down on a nice comfy bean bag overlooking the area of garden where my bird feeders are. Had a lovely relaxing hour watching the birds, sadly my jays didn't show up. And then ? ---- Couldn't get up ! (well I did eventually)

Birds are such a joy. Getting stuck on the floor....not so much.

Could have done with some wings yourself 😏🤔

Oh dear! I am just picturing your attempt to get out of a beanbag. Difficult at the best of times 🙄 Re Birdwatch well 😡 I think a big invisible bubble formed in the airspace over our garden. It successfully kept most of the birds away for the hour. Usually a busy hour too ho hum. Quite a few friends have said the same. Reckon the birds know and hide to annoy us. Hope you had more luck Dorsetlady

I did, but I know what you mean, we’ve commented on that in the past.

I think there must be a glut of feeding (by humans) over that weekend, so the birds have plenty to choose from.

But it’s a nice way to spend an hour!

Yes it is a nice way to spend an hour but I'm going to give those ungrateful birds a real talking to.😋 I was so glad there was a section to fill in 'seen at any other time'

I think in my case it was the weather. It's a glorious day here, blue sky and sunshine so birds are not as desperate as they would normally be at this time of year.

We had a grey wet day here. Dreich in fact 😋 Lots of sparrows but none of the tits or finches etc Maybe next year

Well as I said in a previous post, one pigeon, yes ONE pigeon, is what I got. I still think the birds knew about the RSPB thingy and hid.

Yes I kinda wonder about that too. I like Dorset lady's suggestion that maybe lots of people feed them that weekend. They are maybe too full to fly 🐦🐷😆

As soon as I read bean bag a warning light came on in my head...... NO! Too late!

Most of my birds migrated yesterday as well. Do you think they know?

Well, I was lost at the mention of a bean bag...so, well done you if you actually managed to right yourself from that lowly position let alone spot any birds!

I know that l would get well and truly stuck if l sat on a bean bag, there is not anything except the bag to hang on to to get off of it ! I am sure it was lovely and comfortable though and gave you a nice rest while you were doing the garden watch x.

Not sure how you got in it in the first place! Lots of birds here the days prior but as with you they disappeared on the day - the song thrush did make an appearance though. Hope you're safely off the beanbag - bet you looked like a little chick in a big birds nest!

I hate it when that happens!!! Oh well, at least you were ablele to eventually get up. I had that happen to me in my clothes closet when I tried to pull myself up with the clothing rack on one side, I ended up with the rack coming off the wall and falling on me. Luckily my Sister lives with us and came running in and helped me get the clothes off me and stand up. I was so embarrassed! 😳 OH wasn't too happy as he had to fix the rack when he got home from working. He made it so I could lift myself without all my clothes falling on me. He is a great Hubby!

Shame. It's a scary feeling, not being able to get up, isn't it? Birds seem to have waited for the Birdwatch to be over, because they're out today. Could be before the 'big freeze/snow forecast... UK.Saturdays afternoon, came into kitchen to make a hot drink. Stood looking into garden, as usual. Spotted big brown animal, in far corner of communal garden, eating that evil vine..the 1 that chokes plants. Not a dog...not allowed here, sadly. Then it turned.....................a MUNTJAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When it moved, it hobbled and left leg looked deformed. It hobbled around the garden, then made a nest for itself under a shrub. I didn't know if it was resting/going to die. Rang RSPCA. lady came. Tapped glass window and muntjac got up and hobbled into hedge opposite and camouflaged. Lady said maybe it would go when dark, but if seen Monday, to report again, as may have to be put to sleep. It had such a lovely face.Yesterday, I peered the length of the hedge. Saw nothing.Hope it got back ok.
