Stabbing pain in right eye.
Yes I have had pain in my right eye too. So far it has only affected me during the day and found paracetamol helped. If that doesn’t help I think you should see the doctor. Good luck
I have had stabbing pains on the surface like pins. The optician said I had next to no tear film so I have watery drops for day and thicker drops for night. No pain in actual body of eye. I’d get it checked.
Looking at your earlier posts - have you only been diagnosed such a short time? Two months - is that correct?
If so, what on earth are you you doing down at 10mg already?
Need to follow this up I think.
I was diagnosed in May but the biopsy came back normal so they are reducing me to see if my symptoms come back. It is crazy .
Okay... so you need to go back and tell them then.
As you know by the various posts on here, a negative biopsy doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t have GCA! Wish the doctors would realise that.
Have a read of Daisychain12 latest post - at least her specialist is on the ball! Might give you some questions for your medical team.
I would be concerned about a return of GCA symptoms. I think it is important for you to get medical advice. Eyes are too precious to take risks with.
Please get advice but you might like to look into the symptoms of occipital neuralgia. They are very similar to GCA. Also tension in the trapezius muscle will cause neck and shoulder pains too. I mention this because I've been down this road thinking " it's the gca flaring" only to discover it wasn't and anxiety only makes everything worse and muddies the waters.
Yes... but thank goodness mine are always short lived and fleeting! ...and remember I have both GCA & PMR, so...
DorsetLady is on the button. She, like me, has lost an eye to GCA, which makes us both a bit more forthright. You can't afford to let the Medics to get it wrong. Get back in there and demand a decent analysis of your case (second opinion - referral - whatever they want to call it). Now!
And good luck.
I have stabbing pain in my left eye. My eye dr tested for dry eye and I have it. I have been using drops like snazzy. It has helped. I have decided is it a symptom or side effect? Get it checked out
I have GCA PMR and dry eye but never had stabbing pains in the eye, have had lots of soreness and visual disturbance with pain in the affected temple, with painful jaw and teeth.
I have used gel tears for many years before diagnosis but I never knew I had dry eye as had no symptoms. It was found at a routine eye check. I had a negative TAB (temporal artery biopsy) as they didn't get enough of the affected artery - my Ultra Sound was positive. As others have said your 10mg Pred is rather worrying, and a naive way for a professional to see 'if your symptoms come back!' Think you need to make a noise very soon.
