Is Posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) more common when on steroids? I have been having this issue with my right eye for a week?

Flashes and floaters
I think it is more related to our age Parijm. I had this diagnosis long before I got PMR. I think it is important because it can warn of a future detached retina. The symptom has been less for me since Pred and my frequent eye checks have not highlighted it as a problem - in fact I had forgotten. I used to obsess a bit about it. Regular eye examinations are very important for us therefore things get picked up quickly in our group.
Thanks. I went to optician and had thorough examination & am due to see him again in couple of weeks. Just another irritating health issue to take on board!
Hi Parijm. I had this long before pmr/GCA. I was sent to the local eye hospital who made sure it wasn't a detached retina as the symptoms are similar. They checked again a few weeks after to make sure the PVD was complete. That was in my left eye. They said it would happen in my right eye in the near future but I was to come straight back so they could check it and make sure it was ok, which I did. I had flashing lights as well as the floaters. Something that happens with age and especially short sighted people but should always be checked by professionals with the right equipment. All the best cc 🤗
