Blurred vision and floaters

I have been reducing my steroids down by 1mg a month and am now at 13mg but in the last two weeks my eyes have got some blurred version and some floaters. Is this to be expected while reducing or is it something for concern. I had my eyes checked on Friday pasted and he said they were ok . I asked about the numbness around my left eye that comes and goes and he said it could be brought on with stress and anxiety. Any advice would be much appreciated Thank you 😊

You could try some of the products for dry eyes. It isn't uncommn with PMR and some people develop it when on pred.

I like liposomal eye sprays - you can get them anywhere these days, some are better than others. You spray them onto your closed eyes and they work their way into the eye so don't interfere with vision for a while as a lot of the artificial tears do

Thank you so much for Quick response

To my question, may I ask is floaters also a part of the eye symptoms with pred? 😊

I had had floaters long before pred. I think they got worse after PMR first appeared - I certainly have one large and relatively immobile one in the middle of my left eye vision, it looks like a greasy thumbprint on my glasses but was identified by my superb optician as a floater and it does go away at times. It is definitely less noticeable at higher doses of pred.

They do happen more as you age and I think are worse if you are short-sighted. This is a good outline of what to watch out for:

Ii too have floaters quite large so I went to the opticians who said I now have two cateracts ready to be operated on. On my last eye appt 10 months previous there were no sign of them. Steroids can sometimes bring them on but it is mostly old age. That was his report to me so now I have an appt to have them sorted early in June. We'll worth checking though like you have done.

Thank you, have to go back to optician in two weeks if no change in vision and will ask if any sign of cateracts 🤔

Thank you 🙏

Floaters and blurry vision have been one of the things I gained WITH LVV and Pred. Like PMRPro I have one bang in the centre of my left eye and my vision is unpredictable each day, very occasionally not so bad, but normally annoying when trying to read. Have endless reading glasses from +.75 to +2.5The optician confirmed the floaters and said they can take months to move but so far they haven't, even if it moved a tiny bit it would help. He alsaid I had the start of cataracts but quite far back in the eye so unlikely to be an issue yet. Truly sympathise with you. Like PRMPro says, dry eye products can help. I use them daily. I also get a lot of eye infections from the pred and TCZ so double whammy.

Thank you. I had blurred vision from I started taking Pred but as I reduced it got worse and then came the floaters☹️ I’m going today to get the eye spray PMRPro told me about and hopefully it will alleviate the dry eyes abit🙏 . 😊

PRMPro. Which of the sprays do you think are better than others? Is it pot luck, an ingredient or a manufacturer?

Spray for what !!!

Dry eyes - mentioned further up the thread

Dry eyes. You can get drops, but also get a spray that is a gentle mist that you spray on your eyelids, rather than the drops that go directly in your eyes.

I used to use Clarymist which was what my superb optician recommended and it was great. But - as usual - something I like is always taken off the market!!! I think it is now sold as Eye Logic - by the Big A, can't find it listed at ordinary chemists who seem to have gone for their own labels. The Optrex version has very variable reviews. Living in Italy I have a very different selection - not as good as Clarymist though. It is a bit suck it and see,

thanks for that. I will try the Eye logic and see. I use HycoSan Extra eye drops which seem OK. But like a mist to take out with me. Much easier
