My rheumatologist called this morning and my tests all came back ok. He will continue to treat me for PMR. Since I went back up to 10mg prednisone most of the aches and pains are gone again. He agreed that when we start to taper again it will be more slowly. I sure don’t want another flare.

As I said, you probably don't have far to taper - so the slower the better. I'd say 0.5mg using something like this:
Glad to hear that. I had a hunch that this would be the outcome. Steady as she goes.
🖒 good news. I can only do 0.5mg at a drop and even that can be wobbly so I do it as slow as possible...dsns!
Thank you, everybody!
Always good to hear that tests are ok. It’s a ‘hidden’ stress that we all endure waiting for test results. Recently a good friend commented that she was surprised I was worried about a CT scan, as I was a nurse she assumed I’d take it in my stride.....yes the actual scan was no biggie, but the fact it might give me bad news about my aorta was a wee bit disconcerting! All was fine, had a cc letter from my rheum after a week, stating my aorta was neither stenosed nor dilated. However it identified liver cysts and gall stones. Hey ho!
After the CT I was told I needed further blood tests (due to the contrast medium) as I was known to have renal impairment. What? Shouldn’t someone have told me if this was the case? So after 10 months of avoidance I reluctantly visited the GP, who checked my blood results and said my kidneys are fine.
So that’s weeks of worry, invisible stress that PMR can definitely do without. Hopefully you feel better now with a definite diagnosis and pain gone. Those things will make you feel better in themselves. Now just to concentrate on the pred reduction. Just!
Thank you. Good news is always welcome. I am anxious for The prednisone reduction but will insist on going very slowly. I won’t miss my fat face when the time comes to lose that!
Mmmmmm - my daughter knows she has 52% and 48% renal function respectively from the renal CT, the bloods are within range.
My contrast CT was specifically for my aorta. Liver and GB obviously got in on the act as incidental findings. If the full descending aorta was scanned, then it was low enough for the kidneys, but no comment re kidneys. I’ll ask rheum when I see her next, but I really think she would have mentioned a renal problem (from bloods) if there was one? During PMR is the only time I’ve had urea and creatinine checked. The latest test from the radiologist dept also requested GFR. Actually I think the radiologists filled out the incorrect photocopied form. Maybe they didn’t have any ‘superior renal function’ forms left and couldn’t be bothered to photocopy another! I’m not sure my GP will get these results? Report goes to radiology and then rheum.....will just have to wait and see. I don’t have any reason to think I have a kidney impairment.
