Finally feeling better

After more than a month on prednisone I feel like I have turned the corner.

Haven’t had a headache now for 4 days. Shortness of breath is much better. Have more energy, and very few muscle aches.

I’m not saying I’m back to my old self, but this is the best I’ve felt for some time.

I see the rheumatologist next week and hopefully he will start cutting back my dosage on the prednisone. I’m currently on 60mg.

Just had to share my good news.

Sounds good to me! Any glimmer of improvement is worth shouting about.

From what I’ve read about PMR, most people say they saw an improvement in a few days of being on prednisone. I just wondered why it took longer for me. Any thoughts?

Because it is GCA. Or because it isn't either PMR or GCA. PMR is a far simpler case.

My thought is that you may well have GCA and it has taken that long for it to get under control. Perhaps you had inflammation in your chest arteries which was making you a bit breathless too. Also, you have become more accustomed to Pred which can also make you feel breathless. I expect others will come in with their thoughts.

That’s wonderful news, all the more remarkable because you are on the high doses. Long may this continue. This is Pred at its best.

Great news. Long may that continue 😊

Hi,

Well done, long may it continue. But, even though you are feeling a lot better, you are not back to normal, you still have PMR, and that can be problematic, so don’t try and return to life as it was pre PMR. You have to be aware of running before you can walk. Just saying!
