Hi Have just read posts about Adcal - I am on Calcichew D3 which I get in a chemist bottle, no instructions. Please is it correct that I should not take these with my pred?

Thanks

Hi,

If there's no instructions, you could either speak to pharmacist to check, or, if it were me, I leave a few hours after Pred, but maybe before lunch as with the Adcal tabs.

Yes, allow 2 to 3 hours between pred and calcium tablets. Pred for breakfast, calcium for lunch and dinner makes it easy to remember.

They are supposed to put on the label when they are to be taken though no doubt it would be "as instructed"!!!

Thanks - the label says take 1 every day. I'll follow what you all recommend. xx

What is the dose? Most of us get 600mg calcium and 400IU vit D per tablet. The recommended dose is 2 of those per day, separately because you don't absorb more than about 600mg calcium at a time. There are some newer "Ix daily" tablets with higher doses - very nice but they didn't tell the body and it doesn't absorb it all at once!

Hi there it doesn't actually state any dosage - checked the bottle - Calcichew D3 Forte chewable tablets is all it says and the same on my prescrition. Thanks for the interest xx

My Calcichew-D3 Forte 500mg calcium tabs say "2 per day, preferably one morning and one evening."

I take Pred around 6am with thick yoghurt, then Lansoprazole about 7am then breakfast 7.30 - 8am, Calcichew about 10am and 8pm.

Don't know if this is correct but I don't seem to have any problems.

Good luck.

You need a Masters Degree in Applied Mathematics to remember what to take and when!

Good job we aren't ill 😷.
