From my experience, in the early days of starting on 15 mg Prednisolone, I seemed to break out in a sweat for no good reason. Then for a while when I was around 10 mg, this sweating disappeared, which was a relief. However the last few months now that I am on 8 to 7 mg it has come back but only around the hairline on my head. I can get really wet, almost dripping, at the back of my neck which is most uncomfortable. There seems to be no logic in why it happens but I shall look forward to the day when it stops again. I am sure others will have a similar story.

Best wishes

Thank you for the reply. That pretty well describes the way I've been sweating. Will be on 20mg till next August so I guess I should get use to it.

Why are you to be on 20mg for so long?

I told my doctor about the slow reduction, but he feels that being on 20 mg for one year and then reducing 5mg at a time works. I to disagree, but time will tell.

It is in none of the recommended practices and is exposing you to an unnecessary level of pred (IMHO). Too many doctors want to reduce too fast, that I will agree, but that is too far the other way. The Bristol group (as they were) keep patients at 10mg for a year - but that is a reasonable dose for longer term use and probably works just as well as his 20mg.

Ah well - what do I know, I'm just a patient...

Yes.

One of the side effects of pred is hot flushes. Not everyone has it - but it is also a mark of PMR so it isn't necessarily ALL pred.

Good news! My hairdresser told me that the sweat in your hair is a great conditioner...let it dry😊

She may think so - my hair just goes into waves with the odd tight curl ...

One off the side affects of prednisone is developing cataracts in you eyes among other things bone weakness etc, so staying on 20mg for a year is not a good idea. Have a word with a different doctors yours does not seem to know what's going on.

I experience the Prednisone flush at the same time each day, my face lights up like a beacon; no extra sweating though.

Hello

I am very hot with Pred. I sweat a lot and have wet hair and drip from my neck and face. I am hoping as the dosage reduces I will become much cooler. I seldom know what it is like t be cold anymore.

Is it the pred or PMR? Before I started taking pred I got these flushes......a bright red face that is burning hot that gradually takes over my back......then the itching starts! I scratch my back until it bleeds to try to get relief.....it's unbearable.

Various GPs have tried me on lots of different antihistamines but nothing much helps.

I'm thinking of asking to see a dermatologist.

Has anyone else suffered in this way?

My face lights up like a Christmas tree, and i sweat lots too.Know you are not alone.xx

To Eve 74

My husband has just asked me to put on the winter duvet for him today while I have a thin fleece which is probably about 2 tog weight. It used to be the other way round! I even have the fan on when I am ironing!

Ever since I was given Prednisolon for PMR, have I been perspiring like crazy. With the slightest exertion it is dripping down my face, into my eyes and down my neck. When people see this, they ask me what is wrong. I normally tell them that my internal thermostat is on the blink from my medications. I just hope it will go away again when I reduce my Preds more.

All the best!
