Has anyone else experienced profuse sweating from the pred. Ive just been put back up to 15mg and the sweats are horrendous. I read it may help to take half Pred in the morning and the other at night. Any advise????? 😊

The humidity doesn't help at the moment. It will settle as it gets cooler. I've been like Niagara Falls this week! But it seems to be easing up a bit today.

5mg or 500! 😲 the sweats keep coming if the weather is humid.

Hi Janieb293, if you look at the posts under " invest in a bedside fan" posted a couple of days ago you will see non invasive tips on coping with the sweating. Hope it helps. I came back from shopping yesterday like something that had crawled out of the swamp - soaked. I laid on a towel on the bed with the fan blowing on me, fell asleep and when I awoke I was dry, cool and rested.

Yes , I took Pred in two doses and it did help. I take most in the morning and a little late afternoon. Also - even 5 minutes with a fan on your face can help. I have got better as I reduced the pred.

A lot of people have been through the dreaded sweats. Horrible aren't they?

Most of us at one time or another! But it can also be the PMR/GCA - and if you have just been put back to 15mg that suggests you are flaring?????

It is better to take the pred all in one dose - unless it isn't lasting the full 24 hours in which case splitting the dose is useful.

But fans, damp cloths over your shoulders, avoiding going out in the sun/heat all help. Some ladies used sweat bands a la John MrEnroe and others use the ice towels you see tennis players with these days.

Another idea is to put a single sheet in the freezer and put it over you when you go to sleep.

Ah, Sweating. YES! My sweating started prior to diagnosis. Thought it was 'hormonal thing.' Throughout the 2 + years I have suffered most specifically night sweating, pain and fatigue. Sometimes 3 gowns a night! Yes, really. It's miserable. I totally get your concerns & experience. It is the inflammation at work against us.

Much better now. Sweating has improved as I completely changed my foods (no dairy, no meats, limited sugar both natural and processed.)

Research indicates sugars are gas on the inflammation fire) lots of veggies, legumes, grains, fruits. At 6mg tapering to 5 SLOWLY.

May you find relief and calming of your PMR. PMR LIFE

I used extract of sage to help. I had used it during the menopause. 15 drops in water and it is horrible, but it did help.

I also put a flannel under the cold water tap, wring it out and place it on your stomach - try it.

When you pass a cold water tap, put your wrists under it..............

And you can buy a little battery fan, it goes in your pocket or handbag..........use it......don't just carry it around.

And with a bit of luck and a fair wind all the above and other suggestions will help.

By the way, 'slither' or 'easy' sheets are brilliant but expensive.

Hi Janieb293, yes I have the same problem, I am also down to 15mg a day which I take in the morning. I wear cotton clothes, and dress for heatwave for work. Nothing really helps me sorry I have no solution for you.
