Hi,
I’m currently on 8mg, after six weeks, thinking of trying 7.5.
Problem is, I’m sweating, mostly my face and neck, and am really exhausted.
The skin on my arms is very thin, and hurts when I shower.
Any suggestions

Now you have posted you can see related posts on subject so you might find some help there …but I’d hazard a guess it could be adrenal related - if so, it’s just time, patience, and a slow taper until they start getting their act together…
Thanks, thought steroid dose would be lower
Not necessarily- it varies Depends on what your normal production of cortisol was Can be anywhere between the equivalent of 5 to 10mg Pred

The deathly fatigue comes along when the adrenals are none too happy about having to come back to work. They like to take things slowly.
Have you had blood tests taken recently for Ferritin/ Iron , Vitamin D. Vitamin B 12, Folate , Kidney Function (electrolytes) m Thyroid Panel and a Full Blood Count? If you haven't had these recently ( in the last three months) and you have these symptoms with a chronic health issue and on certain medications like Steroids you can request the GP to test them on the NHS.
These are NICE guidelines because vitamin and iron deficiency problems are common on certain medications so the GP has no medical reason to refuse them ( you can point this out to the Doctor if they refuse).
The symptoms you are describing are common markers of very low or deficient vitamin problems especially Vitamin B 12 Deficiency, Folate Deficiency and Vitamin D deficiency . These can still happen even if you have a good diet and take supplements on certain medications.
Good news is that if these issues are found oral supplements or vitamin injections are given that help the issue quite easily.
Increasing your water intake through the day, and sipping cool water when the sweating begins can also help reduce these symptoms.
Hope you get some answers soon , take care , Bee
My head leaked so much water! I used to walk around with a towel round my neck! However my sweating was worst at 17mg, & it stopped happening so regularly on about 7mg. From 7mg downwards it happened when I was overdoing it! Oh, & at nights…dreadful. Lots of previous posts on the subject, may be in FAQs.
Its horrible i know ! I have had bouts of sweating almost since i started on steroids . You will find so many people on here with the same problem. Just hang on in there it does get less as you drop down your dose.
I used to have head/neck sweats a lot on higher doses. They more or less went away as I dropped down, but they are back with a vengeance now I'm at 4mg. I go for a walk most mornings, only about 35 minutes but quite a bit of uphill and downhill. I'm in such a state when I get back that I was having to have a second shower and change clothes. I don't bother with a shower now until I've had my walk. I hate not showering when I get up, but it was a real waste of time, water, energy!
