The presence of anti intrinsic factor antibodies together with a low vitamin B12 level is diagnostic of
pernicious
anaemia
Does this make sense to anyone and could you please explain it to me as they said I had
pernicious
anaemia
but didn't fully explain the results. Thanks in advance

Query of whether I have Pernicious Anaemia
She has booked me for another gastroscopy for her to do biopsies to confirm whether I have
pernicious
anaemia
or not. I am now wondering whether I do have true
Pernicious
Anaemia
. I self inject twice a week and sometimes still have pins and needles and weakness, however has much improved.

NICE guideline on B12 Deficiency diagnosis and monitoring in over 16s
What does this mean for those with
Anaemia
whether formally diagnosed or not?
What does it mean with those struggling to get sufficiently frequent treatment for their B12 deficiency?

Gastric Parietal Cell Antibody
The auto-antibody is found at high frequency in association with autoimmune gastritis and a proportion of these patients will progress to develop

(Highly sensitive, but not specific).

, my dr didn’t even tell me it was
pernicious
anaemia
just that I had autoimmune issues after testing positive for parietal cell antibody , intrinsic factor was ok apparently, it was the gastroenterologist who confirmed I had

anaemia
6 months after the test !

B12 result after 6 months…
Hi, So initially in October I was diagnosed with what they suspect to be
pernicious

, I had a negative IF test but due to me having diabetes and no other factors which could indicate why I was so low in B12 they put it down to me having

anaemia

GP visit!
When I mentioned
pernicious
anaemia
, she said ‘oh you would be anaemic’ if you had that! One thing I managed to get was a blood test for intrinsic factor antibody. Will probably come back negative so she will put ‘within range, no action required’. Again.

Help For Pernicious Anaemia Injections Effect
I was diagnosed with Pernicious Anemia, B12 Deficiency and vitamin D Deficiency. I started B12 Injections in October 2/3 a week until a full course of ten injections were given now I'm down to one every three months. My doctor allowed me an injection between the now every three months dosages as I feel

Given Private Diagnosis But Antibody Test Is Negative? A Little Confused.
This was given in the context of seeking a diagnosis of my B12 deficiency which was said to be linked with the above,
Pernicious
Anaemia
, antibodies attacking thyroid and gastric parietal cells. I have been on levothyroxin for 15yrs. He based this partly on my raised Anti-Tg (67IU/ml).
