Rebecca is running for Pernicious Anaemia Society to raise valuable funds to help us help you. Please support her by making a donation. However small your contribution is really appreciated and will go towards raising awareness, education, funding our helpline and research

The Pernicious Anaemia Society are a charity which helps to support those who suffer from Pernicious Anaemia. Pernicious Anaemia is an autoimmune disease which prevents the body from absorbing Vitamin B12 from food. B12 is essential for building healthy red blood cells which help to carry oxygen around the body. If oxygen can't get around the body properly, this can lead to nervous system damage.

Rebecca first found out about the Pernicious Anaemia Society when her dad told me he had been diagnosed with it. Until then I hadn't heard of it. For years my dad suffered with the symptoms of the disease until he got a diagnosis. This is because the symptoms develop slowly over years, and often the symptoms are attributed to having a busy lifestyle or just age. The symptoms are also attributed to a wide range of other illnesses. This makes it difficult for the disease to be diagnosed. The Pernicious Anaemia Society help to educate the wider public and health professionals on the disease and participate in research to help further understand what causes the disease and treatment.

Rebecca wants to raise money for this amazing charity so they can continue to keep doing great work for people like my dad!
