I am 29, newly married and had my first baby 2 years ago. Had symphisis pubis during latter part of pregnancy. Had normal delivery, 9 months maternity leave, then returned to work for a month and started having severe pain in my pubis, radiating into my left leg. Pain then progressed around my pelvic region, hips, joints, lower back, sacrum. its still going on, its been 15 months since the pain started. I have been to hell and back. Specialists can not find anything to treat, they gave a steroid injection but physio have said there is a lot of muscle weakness and pubis is not aligned. had so much physio, had osteopath, acupuncture, nothing has helped. Has anyone experienced anything like this. am taking strong painkillers. If there is anyone like me please respond

My first thought is to get an MRI done on the pelvis and lumbar spine to see if anything shows up. I have had many MRI's and they are fairly basic they will pick up on anything that looks suspect, e.g. ovarian cysts, degenerative disc disease. However, you can get an MRN done, this is similar to MRI but much more detailed. I had one done is Harley street and it was the best detailed report. Having said that it picked up everything, ovarian cysts, two cysts on my spine, disc disease, but not the cause of my p/n pain. For me personally, i wouldn't carry on with any treatment unless you get some improvement, You will know when that happens. Did you do anything maningi, that might have set off the pain?

Hi I appologise if I'm repeating myself I

Tried to email this am, have your hips looked at by a specialist orthopaedic looking In to hip joint might be worth a try, having babies can do funny things to that area of the body

Try a Chiropractor

The NHS wrote me off 15 years ago after my first child.

Went to a chiropractor as a last resort and ever looked back. Had another baby with her support 2 years later.

I still go every few weeks to stay pain free but it is worth every penny, he always does a small adjustment to my lower back, that's all. The only thing that aggravates it is cycling .

Whatever you do, don't let a chiro manipulate the pubis itself, it is unnecessary and painful .

Not what you're looking for?
