Gonadotropin-releasing hormone injections for pelvic pain

I have to make the decision whether to try these injections to start menopause to see if my pelvic pain is hormonal. I had a Laparoscopy which found my pelvic vessels are conjested but my gynaecologist won't recognise that as the cause of the pain. He said I have to rule out hormones as the cause fully with these injections before he refers me to a pain clinic. I'm 39 and have not had kids yet and although these injections will put me into menopause it can be reversed according to him. He just couldn't guarantee how long it could take my cycle to return to normal. It could be years. And at 39 he reminded me of the significant increase of risks around pregnancy.

Has anyone had success with these injections with treating their pelvic pain? Obviously if they did work and this is hormonal (although the evidence of it being physical is there) I assume Hysterectomy would be where I'd be headed to permanently fix the pain.

Thanks in advance for ANY advice. I have to decide by tomorrow 😕

Can’t help with the injections but two things I can say are firstly your Drs remark about the significant increase of risks in pregnancy at 39+ is a very old fashioned view, so many women now have babies well into their 40s and even beyond, I had 2 babies in my late 30s and early 40s with no problems.

Secondly don’t assume a hysterectomy will cure your pain, it may well not and at worse increase it ! I had a hysterectomy 5 months ago, ok I had other reasons but pelvic pain was quite a significant one, my gynae was reluctant to operate for several years because she said there’s no guarantee it will help, as it was in the end I had no choice but to have the op and unfortunately she was right in that it hasn’t helped at all with pelvic pain, I still have it and there’s no obvious reason why.

Good luck with your decisions, sadly sometimes we just don’t know what’s causing the problems.

Hysterectomy caused my pelvic pain and I wish now I had never had the surgery as that was the beginning of all my pelvic pain and problems. 2+ years on and I am still suffering, so I would get getting some more opinions if I was you before committing to a hysterectomy but there again I don't know all your symptoms so it is hard to know.Take care 🙂

Can you find another gyno? Specifically a specialist that deals with pelvic congestion? If it's the root cause why go through injections when there are procedures to correct that, which he probably does not know how to do . I've heard of chemically induced menopause for endometriosis but this sounds off to me. I would seek another opinion.
