rectal irrigation
Hi there was diagnosed with levator ani syndrome, rectocele, colitis and damaged bowel due to surgeries. This has resulted in me having a very poor functioning bowel. Have been working with a specialist bowel and bladder physio for quite a few years now.
I have been supported in using quofora irrigation and manual extraction to enable me to have a bowel motion. It took me a while to manage this but now it is just part of my morning routine.
My physio does internal/external vaginal trigger point therapy which helps alleviate pain and spasms in my pelvic floor area.
I also receive support from my colorectal consultant and I also see a gynecologist who does botox injections into levator muscles roughly every 3/6 mths.
This all sounds a lot but with all of this support and with some medication I live quite a normal life.
Hope this answers your questions.
Hi Skye22
I think you may be in the UK. Can I ask please at which hospital you see your physiotherapist? I am at St Marks but not having any results here and they definitely do not do the internal trigger point therapy. I also use the Qufora
Hi there I stay near Glasgow and attend the new Victoria hospital awaiting transfer to local hospital. Can I ask how you are managing your quofora products?
Hi
So I would say generally okay. Have been using it for a year. I use the Qufora mini. A welcome relief to laxatives. I actually use it for incomplete evacuation so most times I am able to move my bowels in the morning but there is always the sensation of stool left behind. I use it in the evening before I go to bed. Have tried to use it in the morning after as bowel movement but find it is not effective at all. PT is thinking that it may be causing some hypersensitivity now. I have tried to miss a day of using it but it appears to cause me to back up. I just need to find a good local PT now to continue the internal therapy work
Hi
I am on the Qufora for about a year now. I would say I am getting on okay. I use it at night for incomplete evacuation. I use the MiniGo. Have also tried the higher volume Flowset but found the smaller volume much more effective. The laxatives were absolutely killing me so I have found this much better. I am not 100% better and still have a long way to go. In addition I do take 400mg of Magnesium Citrate at night. If you have the right support I would give it a go. For me medication has been a nightmare.
Thank you for all the replies - yes where can you get support on this thing does it cause some leakage for you ?
Hi
Only a pelvic floor therapist can prescribe. Are you with a Gastroenterologist or a Colorectal surgeon at the moment?
I do not have everything you have----but have partial spinal cord injury---I have neurogenic bowel and self-cath----I have had to do a flush for 12 years to go and have rectal nerve pain. Rectally is the worse of my whole body---and I have it every where. I cannot sit at all. Can you tell me what qufora is??? My shoulder and arm feels ripped off from flushing. I am homebound, I am writing right now because I am very down and anxious. Thanks for listening! Pat
PS Do you feel like you have something large or heavy in your bowel all the time and after flushing??? Thank you!
Yes I do. It is a very uncomfortable. Mine is caused by a prolapse. A rectocele, also known as posterior vaginal prolapse, is a type of pelvic organ prolapse that occurs when the rectum bulges into the vaginal wall. I don't know if you have the same problem. Have you been to see your gyno yet? Look up rectocele on the internet. You will find a good definition as well as a list of symptoms which should be very helpfful. I'm sorry.
I just noticed you have had a conversation going and the question I was responding to appeared to be a new one. Please forgive my intrusion .
