is this also pudendal neuralgia?

hello all,

i was diagnosed with left side only pudendal neuralgia in 2004 and have lived with it since then largely managing it with the help of pain killers and changes to lifestyle. i know it well after 2 decades; what sets it off, how long flares tend to last and how to keep fairly sane despite the overnight change to my whole existence.

a couple of months ago things changed however. the vulval pain no longer settled when i went to bed and instead of being eased by walking, it's now much worse after walking. the pain feels the same but it's behaving very differently after 20 years which has really taken me by surprise.

is this still PN or is it something else that needs different treatment? i always thought that classic PN was better when lying down and usually absent in the morning whereas now i'm waking up with pain that gets worse where it used to ease.

i don't want to assume it's all the same thing unless that's an obvious conclusion. i'm an expert at my old pain but not very good at understanding this new one! any thoughts out there?

hi there, I’m sorry to hear about your pain! And for so long!! I’m no expert, but after being told” it’s chronic pelvic pain and many things can cause it” I’ve hit a brick wall, the pain changes all the time and triggers also!! All I know is, if I don’t keep up the level of codine alongside the Duloxitine, it’s a nightmare and very unpredictable. Good luck x
