Awaiting Diagnosis - Query Adenomyosis or Endometriosis or both

Hi Everyone

I am new to this forum and just joined.

I started off having heavy periods and acne on my lower face and I had my implant changed in April/May this year and thought this was the problem and was not the case, the bleeding continued after a new one being fitted and got worse. After some time I started to experience pelvic pain and at times it is absolutely unbearable and also having pain whilst having sex with my partner.

I visited my GP who examined me and started me on tranexamic acid and mefenamic acid which I started to take and the tranexamic acid worked for 4 days and then when told to stop taking it I started to bleed again. The mefenamic acid did not work and felt it wasn't touching the pain and my GP told me to stop taking it.

I went back to my GP who started me on the pill and also naproxen.

After being on it for 2 weeks I had to stop due to it not having any effects on my pain and also started to began having bruises which she said was a side effect and slightly effecting my clotting in my bloods.

The bleeding has stopped whilst being on the pill but I do have bleeding at times when wiping myself and also watery blood. I had a ultrasound and GP suspects adenomyosis and possibly also endometriosis or just one of them.

I have been referred to the gynaecology team and am waiting an appointment.

Would be great to speak to other women on here about some advice and there experiences.

I look forward to hearing from you =)

Hi Perry11. Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you but I have very similar symptoms and history of treatment (with same outcomes). I have refused the birth control route as I am still trying to have a baby, but the bleeding especially around ovulation is causing a massive difficulty! My symptoms were all put down to fibroids but after waiting 10 months for a gynecologist appointment, they disagreed. I'm now waiting another ultrasound (as the last one was over 18 months ago). I may ask the ultrasound technician to see if they can identify adenomyosis or endometriosis.

All the best in getting some answers so you can get effective treatment!
