Coccygeus muscle

Hi Everyone! I am wondering if the coccygeus muscle can be worked on internally through the vagina or only through the rectum? I am hearing conflicting stories( not from anyone on this website) Someone told me it is impossible to reach through the vagina and can only be worked on through the rectum. If anyone has had pelvic PT on this muscle, I would be grateful if you could share with me how this muscle was addressed during your therapy. Thank you!

Hi I know ,we already talked about this but I thought the conversation may be useful for other people to see if that's okay with you.....since I am in pt for painful coccygeus spasm and I can't tolerate in rectum so my pt does external coccygeus trigger points and also external obterator...she also does pudental nerve flossing and mobilization which all help a lot....I am hoping to get some internal valium to put in rectum and if that doesn't relax enough to so internal then I may get Botox....I am also taking cyclobenaprine oral muscle relaxer a couple of times a day when xh is helpful.. I asked my PT if she could address the pubococcogeus muscle from the vaginal area and she said it's very deep into the vaginal area to address that and she feels like it may trigger other things at this point so not ready to try that yet....

Hi! So yes from what I am understanding the pubococcygeius muscle is part of the levator ani muscles and the coccygeus muscle is further back well like near the coccyx. I guess it does make more sense to maybe address it from the rectum..I think I will have to ask my therapist to try to address these muscles externally as well. Thank you so much for your help!

My understanding is that you wouldn’t want to try it via vagina because your v walls are thick and it would be hard to reach it and manipulate it without real vaginal discomfort. I’m having the rectal pt done and it’s not that bad.

Mine isn't bad when she does it but then I have pain for hours after, hence why I may have to get Botox but I am going to try the internal valium first to see if that makes it easier on me I'm taking Flexeril which helps but I was wondering what your diagnosis is if you wouldnt mind telling us and what your symptoms are and if you're in any medications
