Do you think people do carry their stress in the pelvis as medical personnel suggest? I know I have always been a high stress, type A, perfectionist type. First child with first child traits! I believe this could be true. As I age I am not the perfectionist I used to be, but I guess it is a personality type.

Perfection
Oh I think you would be surprised how much stress affects us.
I'm seeing a woman's Physiotherapist at the moment,I asked her that very same question yesterday, her answer was a definite yes, your Pelvic floor could be tight, causing pain, then stress adds to it.
I second that. I truly believe that stress definitely effects our condition. When I’m stressed out my pelvic floor is so tight and the pain is so much worse. They try to tell us to relax. It’s a catch 22 because the stress makes us worse and then we are stressed out more from the pain. Hence more pain. It’s a vicious cycle. Completely. So they say try to meditate. I don’t know about any of you but I can’t do it with the pain I’m in. I’ve tried. It doesn’t seem to work for me. I’m open to suggestions though. This is crazy. Ugh. God bless us for dealing with this torturous pain daily. Deb.
Hi Debra,I find meditation hard to do,because if I just play the meditation music,I fall asleep, and that's no good because the pains still there when you wake up,it also makes it difficult to sleep at night.
I was told yesterday my breathing don't help me because I have Emphysema and consequently I breath quickly. But I am going to give it another go this afternoon. Don't give up to early.
Ok. I’ll try again. lol thanks. Hugs
I believe the slow low breathing is a learned therapeutic exercise. I have copd and I learned it, but I find it awfully difficult now that the pain is all my waking hours and some times just crying time pretty much. I have had two things that have added to my anxiety lately. I lost my eldest daughter to cancer the 7th of April and the following week my husband fell and stopped breathing for a few minutes. I didn't chest compression's and he began breathing again. Two docs said I saved his life. That was a traumatic experience seeing him die under my nose and on my time. Thank God he is doing fine now and has had no permanent damage. Things will get easier maybe in time.It is so difficult.
Hi Charlee!!! I definitely feel that we carry stress in our pelvis!!! I am living proof!!!! Whenever I stress or get upset at something it goes straight to my pelvic floor!!!! Excruciating!!!! I end up doing my deep breathing exercises along with kegels to reduce this along with muscle relaxers!!!! It IS crazy!!! I keep asking myself why can't it go someplace else in my body! I too am a perfectionist!!!! I don't think I'm type A but the perfectionist is still there!!!! If u have read my post before I have tried everything out there!!! Seriously!!! I'm coming to the conclusion that I just have to accept this. I try not to stress but of course I do and immediately start the breathing and kegels taught by my pelvic therapist!!! I HATE it!!!! Keep me posted on how u feel and if u find any tricks up your sleeves to resolve this crap!!! Take care.
Thanks for your reply. I will surely let everyone know if I find a solution to the problem. I am confident anyone will. We know how each other feels. The intensity differs I am sure. When this first started, I wasn't nearly so bad. It has gotten oh so much worse!
Hi charlee4. I too am the perfectionist type. A Virgo. Known to not only want things done right but worry and stress over everything. I do believe that because my father is so steadfast on doing things right the first time, I not only learned that as a child but it is probably in my DNA at least 50% of it. At the age of 58 can you do a 90’ degree shift. I hope so. I catch myself, tell my myself to stop or drop it and sometimes that works.
Yes I believe we carry stress in our pelvis and core. It is sort of ironic that our core beliefs and core structure can compete against each other.
All we can do, is be aware of what our stressors are and either avoid them or take 10 seconds to process if it is worth stressing about. A therapist taught me this technique. It works some of the time which is better than none of the time.
If we could get out of our heads sometimes, we may be able to relax more.
Keep trying. We all support you. N
There will be a time when I just vent! That is so unfair to others to vent I guess. I do better not thinking about this constantly and trying to stay away from problems sometimes. Do write when you need. I'll listen!
