Hi everyone. Has anyone had any successful reduction of pain with Pregabalin? If so, what dose were you on per day?

Thank you.

Henry.

Hi Henry,

I had severe bladder pain giving pain also in the penis. I could not walk it was that bad at times.

I took Pregabalin for 1year, 2x75mg in the morning and 2x75mg at night. It took about six months but I did start to feel better. I now only take one tablet in the morning. If I do get a little pain then I take another in the evening.

Only side effect I had was a little sleepy in the afternoon nothing other than this.

Hope this helps.

Hi Henry. I started taking Pregabalin about three months ago for neuropathy. I went from 25mg twice a day up to 50mg x2 and have just started 150mg x2. It does make you feel a bit out of it when you increase the dose but it wears off in time. I think it is important to up the dose gradually till it works. I seem to be much better on 150mg.but I have only been on that dose for a few days. I am a rubbish sleeper but I now get a good night's sleep which is a plus !

You do get side effects...sleepiness, otherworldliness etc....everyone is different but you have to give it time and they wear off.

Good luck.....I hope it works for you.

I am also on 150mg twice a day to help with chronic pelvic pain. I do notice a difference however still have some pain.

I found the side effects horrible, dizziness, slurring words, had to stop driving.

I agree, up the dose gradually- normally receive a guide to this. It takes time to get into your system to get over the side effects.

I would say they are better than gabapentin, but everyone is so different

Hello Stacey.....Glad to hear Pegabalin is working for you so far. Do you know what the dose can increase to.....or is 150mg the max ? I know you have to get to the dose that works for you and then stick with it till it stops working.

Hi there, I believe the max is 300mg per dose, so I can double the dose twice a day. But the doctor will be able to explain this to you.

Yeah, its about increasing it to suit you, but if you increase to the max and still not receiving any relief then I would say its not working.

Good Luck xx

Hi there, I take Gabapentin not Pregabalin think they might be similar. I'm on 400mg x4times a day which is near the limit I believe but have read of others on higher doses. It keeps the edge off my rectal pain most of the time.Only side effects for me are hot flushes that I have read other people complain about even the men. Not all medications suit everyone. I can't handle Amitryptalin or Duloxatine. Hope this helps

I also tried gabapentin (not pregablin but related) for a few months and went up to 3,000 mg per day and noticed absolutely no difference, good or bad. Strange, but we really are all so different in our reactions to meds. But I seem to have a high natural tolerance when it comes to pain meds, so I wasn't surprised it didn't do anything for me. I take methadone, which has really saved my life.

Hi Foxwalks! I have severe rectal pain too and am on gabapentin which hasn’t helped, but I’m on only 2 100 mg a day. I can’t do 3 bc it makes me feel too weird. I work with kids so I have to be able to care for them. Do you have PN? Thx! It’s been horrible.

I tried generic Pregabalim (Gabapentin) 1800 mg per day but it did not help. You have to slowly increase dosage of Pregabalim or you will feel drowsy. I now take patented Pregabalim (Lyrica) at 225mg per day. This has helped with burning and tightness. This is an expensive medication. Check with insurance provider

I still have light spasms and pressure which I believe I believe I will always have. I take .5 Clonazepam around 9:30 pm so I can go to sleep. Rocky68

Hi...I was on neurontin (Gabapentin) years ago (3600 mg) along with Elavil ( 150 mg) combined. I was a zombie and gained a lot of weight (I believe from the elavil) I am not sure how I was able to work and concentrate. It was tough. Long story between then and now...I take 150-mg of Lyrica now (prcegablin) combined with 60 mg of Cymbalta. I also take 20 mg of baclofen and 10 mg of Ativan. My pain mgmt doc says that a mix of low doses of the meds are better than high doses of one. I still struggl with weight and concentrating and focusing...yet all of these meds do have side effects. I have accepted that I need to take them for some relief. For break thru flares, I take Opana.

Having this condition is horrific. I search for answers. I have learned to count my blessings.

If anyone has had different experience with doses of meds, I would love to hear about them.

Hi everyone. Thank you for your v helpful replies. I have learned a lot. I am on 300mg a day. I have been for a while now. I don't think it does anything for me. I may increase the dose incrementally. H

HI Henry, I take 600mg daily. I started on 200mg 3 times a day and then 300mg twice a day and as the pain worsens I take 600mg in the morning. It does work but not totally.

Hi Henry,

I take 200mg am and the same a 8pm. I have been on it for over fifteen years. Give it a go and decide for yourself. I also take anti- inflammatory as well, I have severe back pain, both really help me get through the day.

I hope it helps you, good luck.

Penny
