Pudendal Neuralgia

Hello everyone. First thank you in advance for your support.

I am 46 year female with burning vagina for last 6 months. It feels like chilli sitting inside me. No yeast or bacterial.

Most likely pudendal nerve irritated n mostly provoked by menstrual cup insertion.

Dr suggested nerve block with ganglion impar.

I would like to know how safe are these procedure and if anyone here has done them?

Would they reduce the sexual pleasure sensations too. If not then how come what is the logic cause the nerves for pain n pleasure are same

I have read after the nerve block or ganglion impar patients have reported pain returned in different part around the vagina. Any experience? Maybe they don't feel the pain so end up on rough sex and that way when the impar effect is gone they now feel the pain in other parts affected by rough sex?

Are there other options some mine is mostly provoked by menstrual cup insertion?

Thank you

Hi Akaira sorry to hear this news, I have had the nerve block 5 or 6 times and it is has been safe for me, and it does take the pain away for a few months, also ive had PNE release operations and it took almost all of the pain away , that was 15yrs ago but sadly I was doing some exercises 2yrs ago and whatever I done I seem to have trapped it once more.

Thanks for replying. Releasing the pudendal nerve operation can take very long to heal right? Can you lead a normal life after that immediately? Or you can't sit n what about sexual intercourse it's after how long.

Also did you do the nerve block only. Or the ganglion impar block 5 to 6 times

my suggestion from my personal experience is to have the cup removed and let the nerve heal…it has been my experience the more you let the dr. Do the worst you will feel …I suffered for almost 2 years as soon as I stoped the nerve blocks and started yoga and meditation 🧘‍♀️ I felt better I have p/n but it is now manageable..I know women that with each nerve block and other treatments they become worse..remember when one nerve is upset it effects the others around it and before you know it you have pain in areas that are not usually associated with the p/n again this is my personal experience..I no longer have to take any of thier drugs..I hope this helps

Thanks. The menstrual cup is just something you put like a tampon. I inserted it ut it stopped my blade flow i removed it within 30 mins. But it has scared me inside.

The Burning. is terrible. So do you say just live with the burning? Did that work for you? And that means no sexual intercourse? Ir its doable? I m scared even apply any medicine so wonder how anything else.

try reading the book by Amy Stein “Healing Pelvic Pain” this is where I started I had to give my nerve time to settle down and yes for me after giving my body time and working with an herbalist (I take valerian root and hops it is a nerve tonic) I am able to have sex and the burning and other sensations have been reduced almost to nothing…but it takes time for the body to heal itself..and there are certain activities that can flare it up..again in my personal experience my nerve was compressed I was not able to sit for even a minute I was in a very dark place now I still have pain on a much smaller scale and am not able to do all the things I could do before but what I can do now I never knew I could..I am very passionate about trying to find more natural ways to overcome this horrid condition..I work with many women world wide and some are so much worse then they were before blocks and multiple medical therapy’s …again this is just mine and other womens experience over the past 8 years…I have found the more research I have done the better off I was have learned things no dr could tell me..also remember there is no money in the medical profession to heal you…

One more update. I was burniing down there. I used ice just now and the burning came down by 70 percent. It's an ice stick.

But it's temporary relief. The ice doesn't stick at all infact keeps melting.
