Hi

Thanks for the link I thought it defined so well the attitude needed to get through life with chronic pain. The best advise I was given was yes your life will be different to before ,eg. no more cycling ,horse riding ,dancing all night or shopping all day, and you will need to learn to pace yourself ,so go away and have a good cry or scream or rage or whatever gets rid of your frustration then take a deep breath and get on with it! Oh yes and listen to your body and work with it instead of fighting it all the time. Sounded harsh at the time but will be for ever grateful for that advise as it was the start of accepting the now and trying very hard to stop lamenting the past.
Thank you.
I am glad you found the link helpful 😊. Chronic pain has different effects on different people and to an extent I suppose it's potentially linked to how long it's taken to get diagnosed with the condition(s) and how supportive your GP and medical team is. It's definitely been a factor for me, fortunately though I have very supportive medical teams at the hospital which makes a difference especially as the GPs aren't particularly helpful. It's definitely true though that pain can be influenced by many internal and external factors and knowing that it's okay at times to be frustrated with it all helps many not feel as though they've 'failed' at managing their condition.
