I don't remember a gift as much as an occasion. It was probably about 1954. I was 5 years old and slept in a small bedroom where my brother appeared before it was light on Christmas morning. I think he had been waiting for our mother to go to bed. He whispered to me, "Get up Pennie. Santa's been here." I jumped up, and the cat and I followed him down the stairs. It is very vivid in my memory, but I have no recollection of the gifts. Probably a doll.
