Christmas carols, brightly colored lights, and Hallmark movies (too many for me) are all just a part of the season. Glad tidings to all, right? Happy endings and joyous family events -
For many, some of whom are my own friends, this is a very sad and somber time for them. Memories of long ago family gatherings, lost spouses, and significant health issues can so often color all the cheer.
I know, even for many of you reading this, the holidays can be stressful but also very sad. It can be hard to participate in family events due to health issues or just not wanting to. You know what? and that's ok.
This time of the year can leave you feeling isolated and alone - either physically and/or mentally. Try to reach out to even one friend, pick up the phone ( a novelty these days), drive around looking at Christmas lights ( you don't even have to talk to anyone).
I know when things seem like you can't be any less happy, someone can reach out to you. Please don't ever hesitate to even reach out here.We may not know each other personally but all having the same liver disease gives a common bond few can understand.
On the flip side if you know someone struggling during this time of the year for whatever reason, please take a moment to call them, send a card, and yes -- maybe even just text them that you are thinking of them. It may make all the difference to them.... and maybe even to you as well.
