low RBC and Hematocrit

I’ve had PBC for 14 years, doing well on Urso. LFTs good. However my last two CBCs have shown low RBC and hematocrit levels. Can PBC have an impact on these and create anemia? Seeing my regular doc next week, hepatic doctor in a few months.

for me it turned out to be Pernicious Anaemia. Professor Neuburger was talking about this on last Thursday's Q&A on the PBC Foundation presentation. Your regular doctor should be able to give you a good idea after looking at your blood test results. Let us know how you get on.

thought it might be as that is listed as a possibility for PBC. I will talk to doc, what do they do then give B-12 shots?

in my case I did not have the intrinsic factor so I must have B12 injections. I was started on a loading dose (sorry cannot remember how many in the week). I was on 12 weekly therein after but was not coping so now have them 8 weekly from the NHS nurse. Not sure which country you are in but the NHS in England follow a set of rules. Other countries may treat B12 deficiency differently.
