Anyone knows what is the real cost of Ocaliva? I looked at GoodRX, in the US, and it is $9000 for 30 pills (5mg). Wow.

Thanks.

good morning! Yes, $8000/month is what I was quoted. Unbelievable!!! I get mine from my “Canadian” pharmacy for $100/month for 60 5mg tablets! Also unbelievable!!!! I’m in the US, and not eligible for grants or other financial assistance because I’m on Medicare. The good news is, the Ocaliva is working. Thank goodness I found a resource that makes it so much more affordable. I’m sure you, too, can find a resource offering it at a more reasonable price, with some research. Good luck—-it’s worth the effort!

how did you find the pharmacy in Canada? I am taking it now and The Assistance Fund is providing financial assistance but I don’t know how long that will last. tafcares.org/

A dr in the Orlando area referred me. I’ve been using them successfully for years. On line, go to canadasavingsshop.com. You won’t be disappointed. Amazed, probably, but pleased with both pricing and service.

thanks! Do you have any issues with the package coming in to the US - customs, etc.?

no problems with customs. They just ship it from wherever and it comes to my mailbox. The Ocaliva is manufactured in a USDA-approved facility in India. Exact ingredients as what is manufactured in the US, but under a different name, Obenow. You can research it for more details. I’ve been very happy with the results.

I live in Florida - do you? Where are you being treated?

my Hepatologist is at the Transplant Institute at Advent Health Orlando. I was referred to him by my GI. The dr assured me I wouldn’t need a transplant, and even if I did, I’m too old (72).🤣🤣🤣. He is in his early 30’s. . .

It’s right at $8.5k to $9k here. I think my insurance pays right at $8700? And then I get a discount card from Intercept so my out of pocket for it is $0.

Its crazy expensive

Wow, so out of $9K you are paying zero. This is great. Are you in the US? Do you mind telling what insurance do you have?

I’m in the US. I have CVS Caremark for my prescription coverage through my husband’s work. I have to get approval for the Ocaliva once a year. I’m grateful for them covering it.

hi

I am very thankful for our NHS , the cost other countries pay for medications that is needed is ridiculous. When I first went on ocaliva my consultant had to do a report to a board explaining why I needed it and to justify the cost , I’m not sure if that is still the case in the UK.

you might want to contact The Assistance Fund for coverage. tafcares.org/ . I didn’t know we could get it in Canada for $100 for 60 pills! I have been taking it for a few years and my ALP has come down. Good luck !

Mine has always been no charge. I have Medicare and supplemental ins but no prescription plan. I was married at the time I started taking it and we had a nice income but still no charge. Mine comes from Interconnect Patient Services which is part of Intercept.
